Had the privilege of meeting IPC President Andrew Parsons during #WorldParaAthleticsChampionships
We discussed how, just like cricket has entered the Olympic Games, efforts should be made to bring it into the Paralympic Games too.
The first step must be its inclusion in the Asian Para Games. Together, we can make this vision a reality. 🏏 #ParaSports @BCCI@JayShah@dcciofficial
A Call for Full-Fledged Support to Differently Abled Cricket – The Need for a Global Roadmap
Just as the ICC has successfully championed the growth of women’s cricket, disability cricket now needs the same level of structured and committed support at the global stage. To make this a reality, the following steps are essential:
1.The ICC must formulate a long-term roadmap specifically designed to promote, develop, and institutionalize disability cricket worldwide.
2.All member countries should be encouraged to establish and support national disability cricket programs — including training academies, national tournaments, and talent scouting initiatives.
3.A dedicated financial support mechanism should be created, involving member boards, CSR contributions, and strategic partnerships to fund disability cricket initiatives sustainably.
4.Moral and social support should also be prioritized — to build respect, visibility, and opportunities for differently-abled cricketers in every community.
5.The ICC should work towards launching an Annual Disability Cricket World Cup, creating a global platform for disabled athletes to showcase their talent and inspire millions.
Disability is not a limitation — it is a different lens through which the game is played and admired. Now is the time to ensure that cricket truly becomes a sport for all — inclusive, empowering, and equal.
Looking to Jay Shah’s Leadership for Change
I am hopeful that under Jay Shah’s leadership, the vision for disability cricket will become a reality. During his time at BCCI, he took bold steps that no one had considered before, such as recognizing and institutionalizing differently-abled cricket, something that had never been done in India’s 100-year cricket history.
Now that he serves as the ICC Chair, we must believe and trust that he will take similar steps to elevate Differently Abled cricket on the global stage. With his proven leadership, there is every reason to believe that disability cricket will receive the recognition and support it rightfully deserves. @JayShah@ICC #CricketForAll #DisabilityCricket
The fourth edition of our T20 National Championship was conducted very successfully. We thank the @BCCI particularly BCCI secretary @JayShah for his and the Board's continuous support for our endeavours. We also thank all our supporters. I hope the BCCI and all our supporters continue to extend their help to differently-abled cricketers of India. I must congratulate the differently-abled cricketers for putting up fantastic performances during the tournament. @abhishereporter@vikrantgupta73@kushansarkar
