“The Pretender” is the lead single from Foo Fighters’ 2007 album Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace. Written by Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, and Chris Shiflett, the explosive alternative-rock anthem became one of the band's biggest hits, reaching #37 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #8 on the UK Singles Chart. It also topped the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart, becoming one of Foo Fighters' most successful songs on American rock radio.

The track spent 18 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart, making it one of the longest-running chart-toppers in the history of the alternative-rock format. In 2008 “The Pretender” also won the Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance.
