@luke_winkie I attended one of Brian Wilson’s Pet Sounds tour shows in 2016. Inebriated, I initially assumed the small, blonde man performing front and centre was a Mike Love impersonator. Took me a minute to realize it was Al Jardine.
@stoolpresidente Because it’s pathetically contrived. Calling it “football”, the scarves, the chants, the songs. It’s European; not American. And when we pretend otherwise the results are embarrassing.
@PastPaulitics Except for the colour purple, which was the most deeply revered of the many colours the Ancient Greeks enjoyed. Which makes the debate about who should portray Helen of Troy in Nolan’s The Odyssey so absurd. I think we can all agree that it should have been Oprah Winfrey. 16/16
@PastPaulitics In fact the Ancient Greek word for colour was χρῶμα, meaning the surface of an object or the skin. So the Ancient Greeks differentiated every member of the πολυάνθρωπος, or populous, based on their skin colour, with colour being a concept they could not comprehend… 15/16
