More Discrepancies in Aqida from the Scholars that Wahhabis Reference: The Sifat of Allah
Was Ibn Uthaymin a "Jahmi" deviant for doubting that Allah can get tired?
There is a famous hadith in Bukhari which mentions that Allah can get tired (or bored).
"A woman from the tribe of Bani Asad was sitting with me and Allah's Apostle ﷺ came to my house and said, "Who is this?" I said, "(She is) So and so. She does not sleep at night because she is engaged in prayer." The Prophet (ﷺ) said disapprovingly: Do (good) deeds which is within your capacity as Allah never gets tired of giving rewards till you get tired of doing good deeds."
Bin Baz says that we must attribute tiredness to God - albeit a "tiredness appropriate to a His majesty."
Meanwhile Ibn Uthaymin is more ambivalent and seems to be unsure about whether we should affirm that Allah has the attribute of tiredness.
"Question: Do we affirm the attribute of tiredness (mall) for Allah, the Almighty? The Shaykh replied:
"In the hadith, the Prophet ﷺ said: "Indeed, Allah does not get tired until you get tired." Some scholars have taken this as proof that tiredness is an attribute of Allah, but His tiredness is not like that of created beings. Human tiredness is a deficiency because it indicates impatience and frustration. However, Allah’s tiredness—if established—would be one of perfection, free from any deficiency. This is consistent with how we affirm all of Allah’s attributes in a manner befitting Him, even if similar attributes in creation are associated with imperfection.
"Other scholars have interpreted the hadith differently. They say that the phrase "Allah does not get tired until you get tired" means that no matter how much you do, Allah will continue to reward you—so keep doing good, for Allah does not stop granting you rewards until you stop your deeds. According to this view, boredom here refers only to its necessary consequence (i.e., the cessation of rewards).
"Another group of scholars argue that this hadith does not prove the attribute of tiredness for Allah at all. They compare it to a common expression: "I will not stand up until you stand up." This does not necessarily mean that the second person will actually stand up. Similarly, "Allah does not get tired until you get tired" does not necessarily imply that boredom is an attribute of Allah.
"Regardless of the interpretation, we must firmly believe that Allah is free from all deficiencies, including boredom and anything similar. If this hadith does indicate boredom, then it must be understood in a way that is befitting His majesty and distinct from human tiredness."
Now all of this raises a question. Is there room for ijtihad in interpreting Allah's attributes?
If not, would someone be a Jahmi kafir or deviant if he interpreted Allah's tiredness as metaphorical?
Thought-provoking clip.
The speaker comments on how Wahhabi doctrine centers on the unjustified takfir and tabdi' of all other Muslims.
In his view, Wahhabi doctrine has become the primary cause of fomenting conflict among Muslims today. It destroys cooperation and unity between Muslims and thereby weakens them so that they are oppressed by others.
Just because a person affiliates himself with a certain Shia denomination, even Rafida, doesn't necessarily mean that they r Kafir. We have to deal with them on an individual basis. This is Ibn T's position. IT considered a lot of specific Shia as Muslims
