Short-toed Snake Eagle drying its wings in the Tamuja river valley, Extremadura. We watched it fly downriver in the rain, snake in mouth, and assumed it had carried on, only to find it perched after the storm had blown through. @SiBorder
Didn't have the trap out last night but had this lovely Eyed Hawk resting in the garden this morning. Other moths that have been in the trap recently: Ruby tiger, Green carpet, Spectacle, Flame shoulder, Shuttle shaped dart and Rustic shoulder knot.
#WestMidsAllDayer Calling it 54 for Wilden Marsh. Nothing out the ordinary and missing a few. Photo of last week’s Yellow wag, missing from today’s list.
Wilden: 2 Sand martin and a RN Parakeet over, Green sandpiper flushed before settling back on south pool, and of course second helpings of Jared’s Waxwings, this time enjoying rosehips along Leapgate lane #WorcsBirds
Wetland improvements were completed at SVCP last week and today photographers captured the moment that a Green Sandpiper briefly landed on the new island. All work has been generously funded by the SVCP volunteer group. Fingers crossed for more wader action!
@MartinRFlack @WorcsBirding Remember the 2011 bird being followed by 2 Black tern at the Moors pool then 3 Wood sandpiper at Lower moor in the setting sun. A brilliant evenings birding @SiBorder
Good views of a ‘new’ Gropper at Wilden away from the regular territories on the marsh, with accompaniment from a Garden Warbler. @MidlandsBirder’s Wheatear still present from yesterday. Hundreds of Cuckoo Flowers speckling the meadows.
