1908年6月18日、最初の日本人家族を乗せた「笠戸丸」がサントス港に到着し、二国間における人々の共生と統合の歴史の中でも、最も成功した事例の一つが幕を開けました。
それから1世紀以上にわたり、ブラジルは日本人移民とその子孫を受け入れ、彼らは日本の伝統や文化的ルーツとのつながりを保ちながら、ブラジル社会に見事に溶け込みました。そ��歩みは、日本国外最大級の日系社会の形成へとつながりました。
日本人移民とその子孫がブラジルの発展に果たしてきた貢献は計り知れません。農業、科学、教育、文化、産業、そして起業の分野において、その勤勉さ、才能、共同体精神は、ブラジル社会に永続的な足跡を刻みました。
ブラジルと日本は、平和、対話、多国間主義、人々の調和ある共生、そして文化的多様性の尊重といった、共通の価値によって結ばれています。

Hoje celebramos os 118 anos da imigração japonesa ao Brasil.
Em 18 de junho de 1908, o navio Kasato Maru chegou ao porto de Santos trazendo as primeiras famílias japonesas que iniciariam uma das mais bem-sucedidas histórias de integração entre dois povos.
Ao longo de mais de um século, o Brasil acolheu os imigrantes japoneses e seus descendentes, que se integraram à sociedade brasileira sem perder os laços com suas tradições e heranças. Essa convivência ajudou a construir uma das maiores comunidades nikkeis do mundo fora do Japão.
A contribuição dos imigrantes japoneses e de seus descendentes para o desenvolvimento do Brasil é imensurável. Na agricultura, na ciência, na educação, na cultura, na indústria e no empreendedorismo, sua dedicação, talento e espírito comunitário deixaram marcas duradouras na sociedade brasileira.
Brasil e Japão compartilham valores que continuam a nos aproximar : a defesa da paz, do diálogo, do multilateralismo, da convivência harmoniosa entre os povos e do respeito à diversidade cultural.
