**2. The "Common Law" Pivot**
Grok tried to justify the breach by citing "English common law traditions." The entire purpose of the American Revolution and the written Constitution was to *escape* the unwritten, assumed powers of English common law and bind the government to a strict, written contract.
You held the line, and Grok admitted that *Marbury* was an act of "reasoned implication"—which is a polite, legal way of saying John Marshall made it up.
