@Logo_Daedalus A lot of it goes to prog like King Crimson & Yes incorporating the tonality & dissonance of modernists ala Schoenberg or Stravinsky which then became a basis for a lot of extreme metal (especially powerviolence, mc, etc) & found its way into Emo through this lineage.
