@shwinnypooh And to say "CAA has presented deals that keep them under the second apron next year" while still sneaking in "the year after who knows" like that isn't a clear sticking point in this negotiation. And I don't believe for a second that math includes the empty roster spots.
@shwinnypooh 100% the intention was for it to be a hardcap. 2 years over costing a third or more of your roster and then having salary dump (and then stay under for at least 3 years) to avoid tanking a draft pick. Roster is guaranteed to get blown up without paycuts.
@WhosUrDadiet@IanBegley They do, but they'd be over the 2nd apron if they keep 2 of these 5 without a trade. So likely a trade happening if they like 2 of them enough
@VictorCroward24 Especially when the 30 yr oldest flaw makes him useless in the playoffs. And the wolves having virtually no picks the next 2-3 years. Absolutely have to take upside swings like this.
@IQstansonly@DJAceNBA VJ at the poa isn't the issue, its everyone else around him. Embiid is in drop constantly & useless vs KAT. Brown has been known to fall asleep off ball & asking him or Bron at 41 to chase shooters all night is gonna go bad.
@mikefaranello13@madeebyjulian@ShaxNBA They do have 15, they'd have to trade someone or waive Nembhard (hes non or partial guaranteed) before the start of the season if they match.
@rupin_toshniwal @dalydoseknicks@SleeperKnicks For both I think it's because they are older, and summer league isn't going to sharpen anything for the roles they'd play. Both have had solid-good games vs NBA competition in the roles they want them in. & for Kev, I think its not worth the injury risk.
@wozardlozard@kcjones1498 Knicks can do more than the minimum, we have the tax MLE. The question is if they like him enough to use that if needed & be hard capped.
Cost is the flexibility to temporarily go over the 2nd apron making trades, but there aren't many scenarios where I think that happens.
@7snapped@ShaxNBA Agreed, I think its gonna take a multi yr offer to get Dallas to let go. Cisse is a great option (probably my favorite), just that the opportunity cost is high. Knicks are gonna exhaust the trade options before the swing on a move like this that limits them so hard.
@ep1erre@NBA_NewYork Don't think so 100%. Given what he showed in the reg, he be great to have on a two way to start the season & potentially sign as the 15th man when the salary slot is lower.
@7snapped@ShaxNBA Wouldn't be surprising if Cisse is in consideration, just different cost with him being a RFA. We can't do sign and trades as a 1st apron team. So we get 1 shot to offer him a contract Dallas won't match, which means potentially using the tax MLE & a hard cap.
@MYkarma86@xavierjdesigns XJ talks positively about Hart often (how well he pairs with mitch, his rebounding, his positive effects on pace/transition plays). Starter discourse was just about playing more effective lineups.
@shwinnypooh Knicks are reacting to the 2nd apron the exact way the league intend, for the sake of parity.
The only reason this is a bigger story, imo, is that everyone is shocked the knicks of all teams dont want to spend. Its something that previously would never have been a question
