The amount of folks on here thinking Ishbia’s wealth was a house of cards shows me how many don’t understand finance and didn’t actually read what Joe wrote. Ishbia’s company made a recent bad bet/business decision. It’s a mortgage company that was in very sound condition when the NBA vetted him. And borrowing money against assets at low rates to fund acquisitions is what every wealthy person does to avoid taxes. The very wealthy aren’t going to liquidate assets to make a purchase when it opens up a tax event. The interest is cheaper than the taxes.
