Manchester United fans have a funny relationship with transfer fees.

Ask for proven quality, young talent, and players with high ceilings, then immediately label every serious target as "too expensive."

£125m? Too much.
£80m? Not worth it.
£38m? Somehow still overpriced.

At some point, we need to accept the reality of today's market. Clubs aren't giving away their best players anymore. If a player is talented, in demand, and has years ahead of him, the price will reflect that.

Everyone wants Manchester United to sign players who can improve the team straight away while also being assets for the future. The problem is that profile doesn't come cheap.

Of course, the club should negotiate and avoid overpaying where possible. But dismissing every transfer because of the fee gets us nowhere.

The conversation shouldn't start with the price tag. It should start with one question:

"Does this player make Manchester United better?"

If the answer is yes, then the focus should be on getting the deal done, not pretending the transfer market still operates like it did a decade ago.

Top players cost top money. That's simply the price of building a team capable of competing again.
