If anyone knows who this car belongs to, can you please tell them that littering is an anti-social, lazy and disgusting criminal offence? Reg: CV17 CWX
We have images of before and after they stopped in this layby and will be passing the evidence to Herefordshire Council to issue a fine.
Still no announcement on the date of the Budget
If triggered today, the earliest it could be is Wednesday October 14 - but that's the IMF and John Healey surely would want to be at that. So Wednesday October 21.
But if it isn't triggered today, Healey is on holiday next week. If he waits until his return, he could still trigger it for Wednesday October 21. They could do Wednesday October 28 - but that would be school half term 😡
When Ed Miliband thought he might be Chancellor, those advising him were arguing for an earlier Budget because they felt Rachel Reeves left a vacuum in 2024 and 2025.
But there's a LOT for the new administration to get its head around, and may just want to allow it to slip to November - since this Budget will do a lot to determine the success of the Burnham project, and presumably come alongside the 10 year plan which Burnham mentioned on the first day in office (though haven't heard about since)
What will be in it - listen to our Politics at `Sam and Anne's special on the economy and the Budget with @EdConwaySky - and of course @annemcelvoy - out on Monday

Litterers need punishment. True Councils and #Highways Agency are failing but, as someone who litter picks a stretch of road regularly, the speed at which litter is replaced makes it clear that the task is too overwhelming not to be addressed at source.
It’s not an exaggeration to say that council services are collapsing in many parts of Britain. This scene is repeated in countless lay-bys. Half measures don’t work.
Litterers need serious punishment, and Councils can’t keep trotting out excuses for their evident failures.
22,568 people have already signed: local residents, tennis fans and people across the UK believe Wimbledon can grow without overdeveloping the former Wimbledon Park Golf Course.
If you haven't signed yet, now is the time.

A Brown professor gave his students a take-home midterm exam. After suspecting many cheated using AI, he made the final in-person. The orange dots are the midterm scores and the gray dots are the final scores. Looks like all but 3 cheated on the midterm.
WHY NOT SPREAD THE LOAD?
Wimbledon Park is already under pressure.
Could more of the Championships' temporary facilities be managed elsewhere, instead of concentrating everything in one park?
Use your own land. Leave Wimbledon Park for everyone to enjoy.

My daughter was elected as a city councillor when she was 18, the youngest in the country at the time. (11 years ago)
She worked her butt off beforehand (and afterwards) to ensure she knew all there is to know about how local government works. She was brilliant and did some important work. She knew all this backwards before she got in the chamber.
This is outrageous incompetence. I wouldn’t dream of voting Reform, but this should give pause to anyone remotely considering it.
They really are negligent towards fulfilling their duties... @NationalHways are one of the most prolific fly-tippers in Britain. Another bloated, failing and unaccountable public sector quango. They need to be subjected to serious scrutiny. @willhumphries_@RupertLowe10
British politics will reach a new reductio ad absurdum in the Makerfield by election:
Vote Labour to destroy the sitting Labour Prime Minister.
Support Labour PM Starmer but NOT voting Labour.
We are having a by-election not because there’s any demand or need in the national interest but entirely to suit the convenience of the byzantine politics of the ruling party and the political pygmies in whose interest it is run.
We are no longer a serious nation. No wonder the bond markets are squiffy.
