Wine Rack's Director of Operations: a fun fact to know about him is that he has made enough money during a pandemic to afford to renovate his house, room by room; meanwhile, workers in the company he runs make barely above minimum wage @OTPPinfo@seiulocal2can#winerackstrike
"On May 10, 86% of Wine Rack workers represented by SEIU Local 2 voted to take strike actions. Workers are now calling for a total boycott on Wine Rack to support the strike."

Off to the picket lines! Support your essential workers - don't shop at the Wine Rack until the #winerackstrike is over! One of the first things they said to us is 'the tail does not wag the dog.' THIS is what they think of us! @winerackcanada@OTPPinfo
Scheduling at Wine Rack is arbitrary & there's no seniority scheduling, so workers have no consistent hours, bc those shifts are often given to new hires, w no recognition of the fact that employees require these shifts to survive. #BoycottWineRack#WineRackStrike@seiulocal2can
Pretty disappointing that a strike was necessary when teachers @otffeo own Wine Rack stores via their pension @OTPPinfo. Teachers should always stand in solidarity with fellow workers.
#winerackstrike
@pastriesandcake There is a seniority component, but the details and purpose of it are being misrepresented in this email. Right now at Wine Rack, no one has any minimum guarantee of hours, so at any time, your hours can go from 25 to 5 with no warning, at the whim of a manager.
Are you a teacher? Do you know a teacher? Go to https://t.co/KqoA0rzbHy! @winerackcanada is owned by the @OTPPinfo! One union building financial security by refusing another union the same protections they fought and continue to fight for isn't the way. #winerackstrike
@pastriesandcake That way, anyone who wants to can be on the list to take extra shifts at other stores, and they will be contacted in order of seniority instead of based on their personal relationship with management. It's not a perfect solution, but it's the fairest option we have!
On May 10, union members at Wine Rack voted yes on our strike vote with an 86% majority. Today, in response to our upcoming strike action, Stephen Murphy, Director of Operations & Retail, sent this email to all employees, disparaging the union & discouraging workers from striking
@pastriesandcake But because there are no guarantees of hours and no rules about WHO gets picked, managers will often choose based on favouritism. We want anyone who is interested in taking shifts at other stores to be on a formal contact list structured on the basis of seniority
