#Eritrea - Safe Medicines: Safe Community; National Medicines Safety Week 2025
by Heaven Yohannes
*" The Ministry of Health, through its National Medicines and Food Administration (NMFA), is conducting a crucial nationwide campaign entitled ‘National Medicines Safety Week’ to galvanize profound and powerful action from every citizen".
*"...The campaign’s guiding theme is 'We Can All Help Make Medicines Safer'. This motto underscores the fundamental truth that safety is a collective responsibility, demanding vigilant cooperation from healthcare professionals, regulators, and the public".
*"..The importance of this campaign transcends the current week’s events. It must catalyze a long-term, continuous commitment to vigilance. By sustaining this partnership, we secure the promise that medicines in the market will always remain a safe and trusted means of wellbeing that benefits all Eritreans equally".

Political doublespeak and duplicity of Potemkin Party (PP) officials and zealots knows no bounds!
Only this week, the PP regime convened the Tana Forum ostensibly to mull on "regional peace and stability". But in the same breadth, the Army Chief of Staff and other senior military brass continued to ratchet up their incessant saber-rattling and war agenda against Eritrea.
Yet another Potemkin Party segment has simultaneously announced the launching of a phantom, "1,58 billion US dollars Standard Gauge Railway Project intended to connect the country with the Red Sea Ports of Massawa, Assab and Tadjourah"; "ብላዕ ዘይበልዎስ፥ ጽቡሑለይ በለ"፡ እዩ እቲ ነገሩ።
PP's befuddled mindset and duplicitous machinations have nothing to do with good-faith intentions and policies of regional peace and cooperation. The latter are indeed squarely anchored on established international laws and norms; on full respect of each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Duplicitous verbal gymnastics is not only antithetical to the healthy agenda of regional peace, stability and cooperation, but it is also fraught with fomenting dangerous conflicts that the Horn of Africa region does not need or deserve.

#Eritrea: Statement by Foreign Minister Osman Saleh on UN Day; Asmara, 24 October 2025
*"...What the world requires today is not a new hierarchy, but a global order grounded in fairness, mutual respect, and sovereign equality. This is no summons to confrontation, but to transformation: a transformation towards a world in which all peoples may exercise the right to determine their own destinies, to benefit from their own resources, and to live in dignity, peace, and fraternity".
*"...As we commemorate this United Nations Day, let us return to the essence of the Charter, to its vision of equality among nations, cooperation in place of coercion, and peace founded upon justice. Let us summon the courage to reimagine the United Nations, not as a privilege of the few, but as a sanctuary of justice and shared human aspiration".
*"...On this occasion, the Government and People of Eritrea reaffirm their unwavering commitment to the ideals and purposes of the United Nations Charter, and their readiness to engage constructively, globally, regionally, and nationally, in the pursuit of peace, sustainable development, human dignity, and mutual respect among nations".

#Eritrea and the UN at 80: An Example of Effective Partnership; by Ms. Nahla Valji, UN Resident Coordinator in Eritrea
*"...Eritrea offers a distinctive example of reform in action. The country’s history of struggle and its philosophy of self-reliance have shaped a model of cooperation founded on mutual respect and shared responsibility. As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently emphasized, 'Eritrea’s commitment to self-reliance does not mean isolation. It is a foundation for genuine cooperation' - based on mutual respect, shared responsibility, and a common purpose.”
*"...That principle defines Eritrea’s engagement with the UN. The partnership on development is guided by a Cooperation Framework, a jointly agreed plan that reflects national priorities and serves as the main instrument for planning and implementing efforts towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. All UN-supported work derives from this framework, ensuring alignment and national ownership".

Ethiopia’s Assab Port Obsession: Beyond the Realm of Rationality
Republished from: https://t.co/512O7paAJu
*"...The adage that 'necessity knows no law', which seems to obsess many Ethiopian elites, is inapplicable when it comes to immutable international norms. This inveterate obsession with sea access—driven by emotion, frustration, and political failure—cannot override the sanctity of colonial boundaries or justify any attempt to redraw them".

#Eritrea's core development precepts and strategies are indeed crystal-clear and anchored, from the outset, on the following key pillars:
*To foster symmetric and diversified trade and investment ties of cooperation with all its prospective international partners (public and private) that are not encumbered by debilitating and structural dependency for cogent reasons of sustainability and national dignity;
*To ensure ownership of its development policies and programmes both at the formulation/design levels as well as in all their implementation phases;
*In this perspective, self-reliance is not perceived as tantamount, or equivalent to, self-sufficiency. Indeed, it presumes and is predicated on nurturing and pursuing vibrant trade and investment networks in all its sectors of comparative and competitive advantage for optimal value-addition and fair share of the revenues that are generated.
*Rich and diversified as its latent natural endowments are - blue economy; the extractive industry; strategic locational advantages etc.; the development of Human Capital occupies a central role in this holistic development matrix to ensure and guarantee both sustainability as well as operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Statement by Ambassador Sophia Tesfamariam at the 19th NAM Ministerial Conference; Kampala, 16 October 2025
*"...For its part, Eritrea remains committed to promoting economic self-reliance, social justice as well as South-South cooperation, and equitable global partnerships. We will continue strengthening collaboration with NAM partners, enhancing trade, technology transfer, and investment in human capital, with the goal of building resilient, and sovereign economies capable of contributing meaningfully to global prosperity and affluence".
*"...Eritrea underscores the sovereign rights of all states, large or small, and the importance of respecting their independence, territorial integrity, and decision-making authority. We stress the principles of multilateralism, peaceful coexistence, and the protection of the sovereignty of all states, which remain central to our shared vision. Eritrea categorically rejects any reckless attempts transgressing these cardinal principles in pursuit of perceived geopolitical interests as these will lead to unprecedent regional and international destabilization".

Good Read - From Harmful Tradition to Positive Transformation: Eritrea’s Effort to Eradicate FGM/C; by Bana Negusse
"Eritrea’s comprehensive strategy has yielded tangible, data-backed results. Since 2014, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, and NUEW, with support from international partners, have conducted FGM/C mapping studies to monitor trends and measure impact. Findings have been striking: FGM/C prevalence among girls under 15 dropped from 18.2 percent in 2014 to 2.3 percent in 2020, while among girls under five, the rate fell from 6.9 percent to just 0.54 percent over the same period. Compared with the 2010 Eritrean Population and Health Survey, which reported 33.2 percent prevalence among girls under 15 and 12.4 percent among girls under five, this represents an extraordinary reduction in just a decade".

Sudanese PM Dr. Kamil Idris: "Eritrea’s Support is a Statement through Action, Not Words"
"In all situations, Eritrea has stood firmly for what is right and has supported Sudan wholeheartedly. Eritrea understands well that the conspiracy woven against Sudan could be directed against all African countries, individually and collectively. Therefore, due to its geographical and strategic position and its just stance, Eritrea has a pivotal role in addressing this conflict".

#Eritrea: FM Osman Saleh Statement at the 80th Session of the UNGA; New York, 29 September 2025
*"...At a time when humanity is aspiring for a transition from the old, defunct, global order to a new one, the overarching quest must revolve around finding, outside tangential ideological acrimonies, enduring solutions to fundamental and outstanding problems that our global community continues to grapple with".
*"... The fact is, past and present global systems are broadly rooted on monopoly, plunder, and deceit. Domination and attendant policies crafted to that end; military power that is garnered and military assaults unleashed are indeed mere tools/means of domination and plunder".
*"...In the event, the cardinal challenge is how to bring about a new “global order” that promotes justice and fairness to supplant prevailing global governance architecture ...".
*"...In this perspective, the peoples of Africa should particularly work out, in view of the specific hurdles that they are facing, a robust mechanism in order to contribute their share, with higher vigour, to the collective mission for a new world order in tandem with ongoing endeavours for the consolidation of a broad international alliance".

So, Germany will resume National Service... EU member States have the temerity to preach and even castigate Eritrea on its defense architecture, but have no qualms whatsoever to follow suit when they deem it vital/indispensable for their national security!

From historical archives: Britain considered Eritrea as a war booty in the Second World War and literally plundered its entire economy; essentially for nefarious political ends. And UK Governments have not, to-date, acknowledged nor made amends for the abominable transgression.
