There are nutrients that you can only get by experiencing the Admire's Signature Hot and Cold dialogue.
The Coldness of her word when she tried to act tough, and The Hotness when she look at you like a lost puppy.
Himari really gives off that vibe of a beloved grandma who's adored by everyone, doesn't she?
Well, kinda.
The way she's designed, and her incredibly soft voice, plus the fact that she's the only student with a visible disability: paraplegia to some degree, or at least legs so weak she can barely move them.
Despite her outstanding intelligence (which would normally make one expect her to act arrogant, as is common with the "supergenius" archetype), the truth is that she's someone who genuinely cares a lot about others, especially her beloved underclassmen.
The most obvious examples are her relationship with the Veritas group. That time she knew about Aris's true identity; she didn't treat Aris as an immediate threat like Rio, but rather as just another underclassman. Or how, after Rio leaves and abandons Toki, Himari immediately decides to take her under her care.
One would think that someone like this would be easily loved by everyone.
But... here's the other peculiarity of Himari: her massively inflated sense of self.
Mind you, it's difficult to create characters with such high levels of ego and narcissism without them becoming annoying to the audience. But with Himari that doesn't happen, thanks to the reasons I mentioned earlier, plus the fact that the game often treats it as comic relief.
Of course, that's for us, the Sensei, the player. But for the characters within the universe of Blue Archive, the number of people who would actually want to be friends with Himari is very small. In truth, most prefer to avoid dealing with her precisely because she talks so much about herself, and that aspect of her can be genuinely irritating.
Given her confidence, Himari seems somewhat blind to these impressions. She lacks a lot of self-awareness regarding this particular trait of hers.
This is something we treat as a comedic side of Himari, but if you consider her circumstances, it's actually quite pitiable.
If you think about it coldly, it's a bit sad. Her lack of self-awareness about how irritating she can be, combined with her physical condition, makes her over-the-top confidence function like a kind of armor, protecting that frail body and the isolation that comes with it.
But instead of becoming bitter or cynical over her condition, and the way most people decide to avoid her, she chooses to enjoy life to the fullest.
She's fascinated by a neuro science like astrology, the paranormal, occultism… things people of her intellect would consider absolute nonsense and a waste of time.
One can't help but admire her incredibly free outlook on the world and how much she enjoys life while taking care of her underclassmen.
What role does Sensei play in all of this?
Sensei, unlike Himari, sees the full picture. He knows exactly what kind of person she is, and he's also aware of how unaware she is of her own ego.
Even so, Sensei never tries to correct her or tell her she needs to change. He knows she's just like that, and despite it all, she's a genuinely kind person. He accepts her exactly as she is... and Himari knows this.
Himari has no problem saying exactly what she thinks or doing what her heart tells her. With him, she can be 100% herself: boastful, excessively honest, and affectionate in her own way.
After all, one should expect nothing less from the beautiful, super-genius, and delicate omniscient hacker of Millennium.
