What is Lombard?
Lombard is a project that brings Bitcoin into the onchain DeFi world.

Its core product, LBTC, allows users to stake their Bitcoin and use it within DeFi while earning yield.
Goal: To turn Bitcoin into more than just a passive store of value, make it an active financial instrument.

1⃣ LBTC
LBTC is Lombard’s core product: a liquid staked token created by locking BTC at a 1:1 ratio. LBTC holders can earn staking rewards without locking their original BTC or giving up ownership.

2⃣ DeFi Vault
The DeFi Vault is a system designed to manage LBTC tokens across various DeFi protocols (e.g., Aave, Pendle, EigenLayer) using automated and optimized strategies to maximize yield. Users deposit LBTC into the vault, which then handles risk management and yield optimization. In return, users receive representative tokens like LBTCv.

3⃣ Lux
Lux is a point system used in the Lombard ecosystem to measure users’ activity and participation. Lux points are earned through activities like staking LBTC or using the DeFi Vault. Lux is nontransferable and serves as a reputation and incentive mechanism, potentially offering future platform benefits.

4⃣ Babylon
Babylon is a protocol that enables Bitcoin holders to stake their BTC to help secure Proof of Stake (PoS) networks. Through Babylon, users can contribute to network security while preserving the value of their BTC and earning additional income.

7⃣ Bascule Drawbridge
Bascule Drawbridge is an advanced bridge protocol used by Lombard for crosschain token transfers. It verifies transactions through both onchain and offchain validation, minimizing the risk of theft or error. This ensures transfers are fast but still secure.

8⃣ Multichain
The Lombard protocol operates across more than 12 different blockchains, including Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, and Sui. With this multichain support, users can easily access DeFi apps across various networks, significantly increasing the liquidity and utility of their Bitcoin.
