Atiku Abubakarโs American University of Nigeria is not just a school in Yola. It is one of the clearest proofs that Atikuโs vision for Northern Nigeria has always gone beyond politics, elections and campaign promises.
Long before many politicians started speaking about education, youth empowerment, innovation and peacebuilding, Atiku had already invested in an institution designed to produce knowledge, skills and opportunity in a region that desperately needed all three.
That is why AUN matters.
In a region often discussed only through the language of poverty, insecurity, unemployment and humanitarian crisis, AUN stands as a different story. It shows that Northern Nigeria can host world-class education. It shows that young people from the region can be trained for leadership, technology, entrepreneurship, development and global competitiveness.
This is the difference between rhetoric and legacy.
Anybody can promise jobs during campaign season. Anybody can talk about youth empowerment on a podium. Anybody can say education is important. But Atiku built an institution that continues to touch lives, create opportunities, support communities and contribute to development in one of the most challenging parts of the country.
AUN has also shown that education can be part of peacebuilding. When young people are given knowledge, skills, exposure and hope, society becomes more resilient. When communities around a university benefit from outreach, training, development projects and humanitarian support, education becomes more than classroom learning. It becomes a tool for stability.
This is the Atiku many people deliberately refuse to discuss.
They talk about politics, but ignore the institution he built.
They talk about ambition, but ignore the lives his investments have touched.
They attack his name, but cannot erase the fact that AUN remains one of the most visible private development contributions in Northern Nigeria.
Atiku understands something very important: no region can rise without education. No economy can grow without human capital. No country can compete globally if its young people are abandoned to poverty, insecurity and hopelessness.
That is why his leadership message is different.
Atiku is not selling theory. He has shown capacity through action. He has shown belief in the North through investment. He has shown commitment to young people through education. He has shown that private initiative, when guided by vision, can become a national asset.
Nigeria today needs that kind of thinking.
A leader who understands education.
A leader who understands enterprise.
A leader who understands human capital.
A leader who understands that development is not built by slogans, but by institutions.
AUN is not just Atikuโs university. It is a statement of faith in Northern Nigeria and in the future of Nigerian youth.
When we say Atiku can rebuild Nigeria, this is part of the evidence.
He has built before.
He has invested before.
He has created before.
He has empowered before.
Atiku Abubakar represents experience, vision and practical development.
AUN is proof.

NIGERIAN BILLIONAIRE ALHAJI ABDULSAMAD ISIYAKU RABIU HANDS OVER BUA RICE TO THE NEXT GENERATION, APPOINTING HIS SON, KHALIFA ABDULSAMAD RABIU, TO LEAD THE BRANDโS AMBITIOUS EXPANSION ACROSS NIGERIA AND WEST AFRICA.
Nigerian billionaire Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu has relaunched BUA Rice, placing his son, Khalifa Abdulsamad Rabiu, at the helm in a move that formalizes a generational transition within one of the most strategically important consumer food businesses in the BUA Group. The development aligns with the conglomerateโs broader vision of combining industrial growth with its commitment to an annual $100 million philanthropic initiative.
BUA Rice is being repositioned as a fully integrated agricultural and consumer goods operation. The company will source paddy rice from Nigerian smallholder farmers through its out-grower scheme, while managing milling, packaging, and distribution in-house. The strategy is aimed at strengthening the brandโs competitiveness against both imported rice and other domestic producers in one of West Africaโs largest staple food markets.
The relaunch comes amid a strong 2026 performance for the BUA Group. Abdul Samad Rabiu was recently named CEO of the Year at the Africa CEO Forum in Kigali, where he urged African leaders to focus on coordinated large-scale execution. He has also expanded BUA Cementโs $240 million capacity programme, continued work on a 300,000-tonne Nigerian sugar project supported by Israeli drip-irrigation technology, and raised concerns over the blockage of BUAโs sugar investment deal in Mali.
With Khalifa Abdulsamad Rabiu now leading BUA Rice, the next generation of the Rabiu family is taking on a key role in one of the most operationally demanding and strategically important segments of the BUA Groupโs growing business empire.
