Iconic weekend for Rwanda & sports. Sport is talent, joy, jobs, tourism, investment and global visibility. Rwanda is proud to be part of building that future for Rwandans and for Africa. Africans shine in global sport and should definitely share in its business.

The Stars Aligned for #VisitRwanda
In 2018, Rwanda read the moment with remarkable clarity. To borrow from astrology, the stars aligned, and the country moved decisively. From that convergence was born Visit Rwanda, a bold national campaign designed to reposition Rwanda as a premier tourism destination and a compelling hub for global investment.
The first signal was unmistakable: a high-profile partnership with Arsenal Football Club as the Visit Rwanda sleeve sponsor. The reaction was immediate, loud, and far-reaching. Rwanda found itself at the centre of global football conversations, with analysts, fans, and marketers alike interrogating and, ultimately, amplifying the country’s strikingly confident move. It was a calculated step that resonated well beyond the pitch.
Momentum followed. Strategic partnerships were secured with Paris Saint-Germain in France, FC Bayern München in Germany, Atlético de Madrid in Spain, and major leagues and teams in the United States, including the NBA’s LA Clippers, the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams, and the Basketball Africa League. Each collaboration extended Rwanda’s visibility into new markets, audiences, and cultural spaces, transforming brand awareness into sustained global recognition.
The results have been significant. Tourism revenues have more than doubled, reflecting a tangible economic return on the campaign. But the deeper success lies in perception. Visit Rwanda has fundamentally reshaped how the country is seen: from a nation often defined by its tragic past to one now associated with ambition, resilience, innovation, and opportunity. It has positioned Rwanda not just as a place to remember, but as a place to experience, invest in, and celebrate.
As the Arsenal partnership draws to a close, the club has secured its first Premier League title in 22 years. The title couldn’t have come at a better time! The association secured a place in collective memory, permanently linking Rwanda to a landmark chapter in modern football.
Meanwhile, the stars align once again. Arsenal now meets another Visit Rwanda partner in the UEFA Champions League final this weekend, ensuring that regardless of the outcome in Budapest, the Rwanda brand stands on both sides of victory.
At home, the story is equally compelling. Thousands of fans gather for the Basketball Africa League finals this Sunday, proudly sponsored by Visit Rwanda, as local team RSSB Tigers face Angola’s Petro de Luanda. It is a vivid illustration of the campaign’s dual impact: elevating Rwanda on the global stage while energising sport, pride, and participation locally.
From London to Paris, Munich, Madrid, to Los Angeles, and back to Kigali, the arc is clear. Visit Rwanda is not just a marketing campaign; it is a narrative shift, an economic driver, and a symbol of strategic confidence. The stars did not simply align once; they continue to do so. And Rwanda, ready and resolute, has learned how to make that alignment count.
