@AMCELL I spent the 1980s as head stockman Metropolitan Police dog breeding program trying to find suitable stock to get rid of Sloped backs. It was an almost impossible task.

@BBCNewsnight The tide is turning towards a ban. I attended all three APDAWG meetings. Remarkably by absence of people such as yourself. That produce relevant statistics, people in the real world would recognise. Instead ever more complex statistics muddying the waters to save XL Bulldogs 🤷‍♂️

@DogbitePhD Because without the DDA the people who wish to breed these types of dog. Would have had access to the three other breeds on that list. Also if the breed specific part was ditched. Within the year those other breeds would be in the country.

@DogbitePhD An XL Bully is the current reincarnation of the Pit Bull. The Breeders of these dogs looked at vital statistics within the DDA Description and outmanoeuvred it. Personally apart from this one area I think we would have been in an even worse place without DDA

They simply changed vital statistics and gave them a new name. Tada American XL Bully. Ably assisted by biased expert witnesses. Some of whom appear on your show.

@ProtectOurPets2 I couldn’t agree more. They cannot accept the simple fact the majority of these dogs are bred and kept as Weapons. Even if the owners don’t even recognise the fact themselves.

I sat through meetings , listening to statistics delivered by experts. Here’s a simple statistic collated using Wikipedia. Incontrovertible evidence suggests you or your family friends etc. Are more likely to be killed by large Bulldog Hybrids usually known as XL Bullies.

@SuellaBraverman There’s another fundamental flaw with the whole problem. Which is going to be harder to solve. That is the exponential increase in the keeping of dogs as weapons. If proven at court that a dog had training of this type. It should take the owner to a different level of sentencing.
