Sports Days wrapped up in style! From Nursery’s adorable mini-beasts theme to a brilliant KS1 event, our children shone with teamwork, enthusiasm and a love of sport. Huge thanks to our families and the brave family-race competitors for making it special.
Year 2 took a musical trip to the Caribbean! Steel drum workshops, vibrant carnival masks, and a finale at our “Caribbean Café”—now they’re excited to learn more this half term.

Year 1 have been learning about physical and human features in geography. We explored our local area, used iPads to identify features around school, and created our own maps using landmarks from the UK and our coastline learning!
Y1 have taken their science learning outdoors this week, exploring the forest to identify deciduous and evergreen trees, and pond dipping to discover the living creatures beneath the water’s surface. They finished their adventure by warming up with a drink from the Kelly Kettle.
Our Year 5 children have been finding lots of hands-on ways to investigate the scientific concepts of friction and air resistance. Through exciting investigations and practical experiments, they discovered how different surfaces and forces can affect movement and speed.
Our nursery children have loved exploring Jack and the Beanstalk in NELI while growing their own beanstalks, tomatoes and caring for the outdoor garden… developing language, responsibility, patience, teamwork and an understanding of the natural world through hands-on learning.
From tiny eggs to fluffy chicks. Our children have watched the full journey on our Chicks Cam — seeing them hatch, grow, and learn to care for living things. Experiences like this build curiosity, responsibility and an understanding of life cycles through hands-on learning.
In English, Year 3 children were recapping the story of The Building Boy. They had to recap the events in order and used the circle Oracy technique to help them with this.

Year 3 finished their learning about money. We are so impressed with their depth in understanding and application… representations and manipulatives used with independence to support their thinking!
Y2 had a fantastic day at Lytham Hall and spent the day collecting, observing and learning about mini-beasts in their natural habitat, exploring the forest, discovering all sorts of plants and trees and tuning in to the birds around us with a clever app that identified each call.
Our @OPAL_CIC journey was celebrated with an open afternoon for our school community. OPAL Rangers shared the impact on our playgrounds before inviting parents to experience play with us. Sunshine, smiles and play, a fabulous end to our week.
