If you think System Design is all about drawing boxes, then you are living in a bubble!

Whenever you learn anything, think about implementation, literally any and every concept. It is always about the implementation nuances, because in the real world, you will be required to implement, not just draw boxes.

Be it load balancers, rate limiters, consistent hashing, b trees, marshaling algorithms, compressions, TLS, HTTP protocols, streaming responses, non-blocking IO, etc. implement every single one of these concepts locally.

You definitely do not need a fancy infra to prototype these, but the effort you put in will take you to the next level and help you build a thriving career.
