Maryland teachers association fires back at Governor Larry Hogan with blistering 4 page letter.
Call Hogan's statement.."no public health reason" for kids to be out of school.."laughable if not so dangerous"
No one is happy with the inequities that this pandemic has exacerbated or the trauma and pain that is has caused. Instead of moving goalposts and trying to scare educators, let’s focus on what we need to do to open schools safely and sustainably. 3/3
Right now, many educators are trying to get vaccines and are being told that they are not yet available in their counties. Safety measures that public health experts have recommended are yet to be properly implemented in too many schools. 2/3
No one wants to open school buildings safely and sustainably sooner than educators. So let’s focus on what we need to do to get there rather than point fingers and threaten educators who are working harder than ever. 1/3
Due to rising COVID-19 rates in Baltimore County, BCPS is unable to proceed with reopening our four public separate
day schools as scheduled Nov. 9 for staff and Nov. 16 for students.

Even when I try to stay positive I’m left feeling discouraged. Do we really matter? Do you care about the teachers? The hours they have put in for virtual learning? Their families and own children? If you do this wouldn’t be happening right now. @BaltCoPS@TABCOEDUCATORS
