SEZMC, SEDF and NCGCL to strengthen access to financing and credit support for enterprises in Sindh’s industrial and economic zones.
The ceremony was witnessed by Syed Qassim Naveed Qamar, Advisor to the Chief Minister Sindh on Investment & PPP Projects, Muhammad Waseem, Chairman SEZMC, Secretary Investment Department, and other stakeholders.
SEZMC, SEDF and NCGCL, to improve access to financial support for enterprises.
A boost for the marble and allied industries: as MCK Industrial Park takes shape as a dedicated hub for the sector, enterprises setting up or expanding there will have a clearer pathway to finance for establishment, expansion, working capital and investment.
How the three institutions work together:
SEZMC facilitates and refers eligible enterprises to relevant financial support institutions.
SEDF supports eligible enterprises through technical assistance, credit subsidies and applicable financing instruments.
NCGCL facilitates access to credit guarantees through its Partner Financial Institutions, subject to applicable criteria and approvals.
The framework also provides for joint awareness sessions, information sharing, designated focal points and regular coordination among the three institutions.
Better access to finance helps enterprises invest, expand and create jobs.

Pakistan’s climate-finance challenge is not only about securing more funding — it is also about developing projects that are technically prepared, investment-ready and capable of attracting public, private and blended finance.
The recent Dawn article on Pakistan’s climate future highlights several areas that are becoming increasingly important: bankable project pipelines, climate-resilient infrastructure, stronger institutional coordination, public-private partnerships and innovative financing mechanisms.
These priorities are also relevant to Sindh’s long-term industrial development.
Across SEZMC’s portfolio, including Khairpur SEZ, MCK Industrial Park, Aquaculture Park, and the new Industrial Enclaves in Hyderabad and Sukkur, the focus remains on strengthening infrastructure, improving project readiness, facilitating investment and creating an enabling environment for sustainable industrial growth.
As climate risks increasingly influence infrastructure planning and investment decisions, integrating resilience into industrial development will be important for protecting assets, attracting long-term investment and supporting economic growth across Sindh.

Growing international interest in Pakistan’s mining and minerals sector signals encouraging prospects for investment, industrial expansion and long-term economic development.
With significant mineral resources and opportunities across the value chain, Pakistan has the potential to strengthen its position in the global minerals industry.
Greater international collaboration can support:
🔹 Investment in mineral exploration and processing 🔹 Technology transfer and industrial modernization 🔹 Local value addition and export-oriented manufacturing
🔹 Job creation and business opportunities
🔹 Stronger industrial supply chains and regional development
Beyond mineral extraction, the real opportunity lies in transforming Pakistan’s natural resources into sustainable industrial and economic growth.
Harnessing this potential can contribute to a more productive, competitive and prosperous Pakistan. 🇵🇰

They sent death threats to her father's office.
They put her team on the Exit Control List.
She still took Pakistan to a World Cup.
Shaiza Khan. Born March 18, 1969 in Karachi. Daughter of a carpet merchant whose wife once postponed her own wedding because England were touring. Cricket was in the blood before Shaiza could hold a bat.
Convent of Jesus and Mary Karachi. Then Concord College England. Leeds. Textile engineering. First non-British captain of her university women's cricket team. Played for Middlesex. 6 wickets for 39 runs in 11 overs.
She and her sister Sharmeen came home in 1988 thinking they could simply start a Pakistan women's team.
Nothing was simple.
When they advertised a women's match newspapers warned that religious groups would storm their house. The police commissioner called and told them to cancel. They played women against women instead. When grounds became too expensive to hire their father demolished walls inside his carpet factory and laid three turf pitches.
1996. Pakistan Women's Cricket Control Association registered. Newspaper ads. Door to door recruitment. Kiran Baluch walked in off one of those ads.
January 28, 1997. Christchurch. First Pakistan women's ODI. First World Cup the same year. They lost almost everything. They kept the shirt.
March 2004. National Stadium Karachi. West Indies. Shaiza bowled until her fingers bled. 13 wickets for 226 in the match. 7 for 59 in an innings. A hat-trick. Still the best match figures by a captain in the history of women's Test cricket.
Sharmeen died in 2018.
The players who came after them learned the game on those factory pitches.
Pakistan had no women's team.
She built one and then captained it.
Shaiza Khan.
