REGIONAL GRASSROOTS AWARDS
We’re at the Captial Cup today hosting one of our favourite events of the year where we get to celebrate and thank some incredible volunteers across the Grassroots Game in the South East Region 🎉👏
@FunFootballUK@McDonaldsUK
A proud moment today⚽️
Best Community Football for All Project category
Creating this programme has been something I’ve put a lot into.
Its been a joy to see the young people grow in confidence and become role model coaches👏
This award belongs to them as much as anyone🌹
LET THEM PLAY | ⚽️
Don’t rush the journey.
Small-sided games give players more touches, more involvement and more opportunities to learn, experiment and enjoy the game, at the right age and stage.

Adults. Do not shout at Children.
It shouldn’t need a sign.
But here we are.
No child improves because they’re shouted at.
No child feels braver because an adult lost control.
No child plays freer because the sideline became hostile.
Shouting doesn’t teach.
💔 It startles.
👀 It distracts.
😳 It embarrasses.
And most of the time, it’s not even for the child.
It’s for the adult.
🤯 Their frustration.
😩 Their anxiety.
🗣️ Their need to feel involved.
Children are already processing enough.
The ball.
The space.
Their teammates.
Their coach’s voice.
Their own emotions.
Add shouting, and all you do is overload the moment.
⬇️ Decision-making slows.
⬇️ Confidence drops.
⬇️ Enjoyment disappears.
We tell children to be brave, creative, expressive.
Then we punish them the moment it goes wrong.
That contradiction is why so many stop enjoying the game. (70% drop out at 13 years old 😱).
If you care about development, lower the volume.
If you care about learning, step back.
If you care about children, control yourself.
Encourage.
Support.
Applaud effort.
💾 Save feedback for the right time, from the right person.
🔈 Football is loud enough.
Childhood doesn’t need adults shouting over it.
