Year 2 of my kids not doing ANYTHING but attending school/daycare while their #bced classmates live like #whatpandemic has me like:
You’re entitled to make your own risk decisions but you’re not entitled to make risk decisions for me by exposing me to the risks of your decisions.
@CPHO_Canada Wanna know what else “does not spread efficiently” in Canada?
The precautionary principle and transparent, evidence based public health policy.
COVID will always be political, but it doesn't have to be partisan. @SoniaFurstenau and @DFisman have imagined an achievable equalibrium with this virus, one that doesn't result in overrun hospitals, chronically ill kids, and preventable deaths. https://t.co/MaZRbVkE0k
#bcpoli On December 31, 2,423 people in BC had died from Covid.
12,922 had been hospitalized.
3 months later total fatalities are 2,981 people.
That's 558 deaths in under 3 months - mild Omicron.
19,458 hospitalized. That's 6,536 hospitalized in under 3 mos.
#bcpoli In week ten of the year MSP paid PCR tests dropped to only 2,800 per week. This in a province with government lab capacity to test 20,000 per day. A shameful deception to create a false impression of covid going away even while ICU numbers rise. This is BC's big lie
What’s the endgame? Just constantly living with re/infection. Now we’re saying yeah totally fine to be constantly getting infected with a disease that attacks your brain and organs and leaves you cognitively impaired. Those of us with young kids are scared. They are vectors.
@SoniaFurstenau Also- They let omicron rip through schools in Jan & Feb, then turned up the comms on 5-11 💉, while seemingly not realizing many kids have to wait 8 weeks since infection to be 💉… & instead of at least waiting for that, they are removing masks in schools following spread break!
