Após a apresentação do BTS no iHeartRadio Music Festival, alguns ARMYs se manifestaram sobre problemas relacionados ao festival, incluindo o tempo de apresentação e questões na transmissão e no áudio

Mesmo que os apresentadores do The Woody Show, programa da iHeartradio, tenham considerado essas críticas exageradas ou sem fundamento, isso não justifica a maneira como decidiram responder durante o programa

Os apresentadores chamaram o ARMY de “perdedores” repetidamente e fizeram comentários racistas e xenofóbicos direcionados ao BTS e seus membros, além de zombarem do nome de Jungkook

Críticas ao evento podem ser consideradas exageradas e equivocadas. Ainda assim, isso não dá aos apresentadores qualquer justificativa para recorrer a racismo, xenofobia e ataques pessoais contra artistas e seu fandom

Repudiamos veementemente essas declarações. Discordar das críticas do ARMY não justifica esse tipo de comportamento

@iHeartRadio Disrespecting the very people who showed up and packed your festival from day one, then calling them “losers” simply because they complained about sound issues — issues that were also pointed out by people outside the fandom — is completely unacceptable. Instead of acknowledging the criticism, explaining what happened, or simply apologizing, you chose to attack the people who attended and supported your event.

But dragging Jungkook into this and mocking his name crosses another line entirely. He traveled nearly 12 hours specifically to perform at your festival, went on stage for barely 15 minutes, and still gave it everything he had as the professional he is. Using his name as a joke when he had absolutely nothing to do with those complaints is incredibly disrespectful. Deliberately mocking a Korean name can also play into racist and xenophobic stereotypes that a media outlet should know better than to normalize.

This is also disrespectful to BTS as a whole. For years, they have always shown nothing but professionalism, kindness, and willingness to participate in iHeartRadio shows and events. Whenever they have been invited, they have given their time and treated everyone with respect. The very least they deserve in return is that same respect.

We demand a public apology from @TheWoodyShow to BTS, and especially to Jungkook, for mocking his name. We also expect iHeartRadio to address what happened and take it seriously. Criticism about problems at an event can be addressed and explained. Insulting your own audience and turning one of the artists who showed up for your festival into the punchline is not an acceptable response.
