The process involved a female designer, female athletes giving feedback during the process, female staff leading the design project. It’s disappointing it’s being perceived as sexist, as I know that was never the intention.

Below is the longer skirt option that was also published but no one seems to have picked up on it. No athlete is worried or concerned about heels

@FWSSport @Team_Scotland I hear you and appreciate it. I know the intention, especially with athlete input alongside Siobhan, wasn’t this. It’s disappointing it’s been perceived that way. Honestly, I’ve felt more objectified in sport kit than in ceremony kit 😞

@alicemodigliani @FWSSport @Team_Scotland Team isn’t fully selected, most are competing to qualify, so likely unavailable. Also, why are we policing women’s clothing? Athletes have choice. A model in heels doesn’t mean it’s expected or enforced.

@Macheath46 @hardlyperennial The team has not yet been fully selected, so difficult to showcase athlete journeys with the kit reveal. In 2022, they used athletes & the reveal was June/July, majority of the Team had been selected.

At 100 days out, we don’t have the full list. Most are away competing anyway

@FWSSport @Team_Scotland There are 3 lengths of skirt the girls get to choose so each athlete feels comfortable. Also the shoes are not part of the kit, the girls get to wear what they want. The heels were chosen & worn by the model for the purpose of the photoshoot.

@sharrond62 @Team_Scotland There has always been a choice of 3 lengths for the girls and freedom of choice in shoes too. The athletes also had a say in the overall design too. This has been blown up way out of proportion 🙈 Siobhan has done an amazing job and I absolutely love the tartan
