Maybe a hot take but I think a lot of people learned about the effect Jaws had on Sharks and attempted to over-correct by going to far in the opposite direction. A modern creature feature horror is never going to have the impact Jaws did.
If anything, giving voice acting its own category makes more sense than giving acting two separate awards based on gender (not saying we need to change that).
Whether you like it or not, voice acting is different to on camera acting and as of now, no voice acting role has ever been nominated for an oscar.
Hell, before getting its own category, only one animated movie ever got nominated for best picture.
Tom Hanks says the Oscars don't need a voice acting category because voice performances should be able to win best actor or actress.
“I think they have enough categories. The truth is, truly, a voice actor can win Best Actor. The judgment is ‘any performance that moved you.’ We’ve talked about, for example, Andy Serkis. Even though he does not appear as Andy Serkis, he gives all the raw material to it. There’s been people who have been close to being nominated that do not appear on camera. That could happen to a pure-vocal actor.” (via Gold Derby)

This really is a collective scheme with the same key words of “change” “embrace” “explore”.
They make it sound like it’s a new fucking newly discovered country and not just a dogshit way of making “art”
Even if she was, it's hard to tell because nothing is exaggerated. You know, because it should've just stayed ANIMATED. The original is perfectly FINE.
This is why I’ve always made the argument that the dinosaurs going global have more of an instant impact on human behaviour, which is what we’re shown extensively in Dominion. The dinosaurs pose a threat directly in very localised areas. It would take a very long time for them to significantly change ecosystems/biospheres, etc.
This is why the Locusts worked so well as an immediate unpredictable instant global threat. The perfect vessel for the misuse of genetic power.
Horton was a shit movie, but I find it interesting art-wise for how there was an effort made at making it look visually Seussian.
There’s poses referenced from books, cartoony/exaggerated animation (which was rare in 3D films at the time), no other 3D Seuss films tried like this
