1. You conveniently omitted the reason the Colombian president denied the flight entry. Attached are screenshots I took from the Colombian president, @petrogustavo's X account. He clearly stated that he only wants the deported citizens to be treated with dignity. He opposes having them cuffed, chained, and brought in on a U.S. military plane. His request was simple: "Let's bring them in on our own presidential jet."

2. The claim that he "chickened out" during the tariff war declaration is false. He responded with a retaliatory tariff threat, demonstrating a Newton's third law of motion scenario. Keep in mind that the U.S. also imports significantly from Colombia. They imported goods worth over $16 billion last year. Notably, about 66% of the U.S.'s cut flowers come from Colombia. With February 14th (Valentine's Day) approaching, the implications are clear.

While Colombia might have suffered more if both sides followed through on their threats, the president didn't back down. Instead, both parties engaged in dialogue and reached a compromise.

3. Even though the U.S. announced that they "won" the "battle," they're now doing exactly what Petro requested from the start: the deportees will be brought in on Colombia's presidential jet.

In the face of unparalleled danger, there are individuals who embody the true essence of courage, leadership, and sacrifice. Lt. Col. T.E. Alari was one such man a gallant officer who stood as a bulwark against terror, giving his life so others might live in peace.

The Commanding Officer of the 149 Battalion, Lt. Col. Alari, was a nightmare to insurgents. His resolute determination and strategic brilliance in combat had dealt devastating blows to the ranks of ISWAP, earning him a reputation as a fearless leader who did not shy away from leading from the front. His name struck fear into the hearts of terrorists, and his presence on the battlefield inspired confidence among his troops.

On Jan. 24, 2025, while leading an operation in the Timbuktu Triangle, a bastion of terrorist activity in Damboa, Lt. Col. Alari once again demonstrated the true essence of leadership. Under his command, the 149 Battalion had successfully disrupted insurgent strongholds, neutralizing scores of terrorists and forcing them into retreat. But in a desperate last ditch effort, ISWAP insurgents deployed a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) against his troops.

The VBIED was intercepted and destroyed by the troops, but the shrapnel from the explosion tragically took the lives of those closest to the blast, including Lt. Col. Alari, who, as always, was at the front, leading his men. Even in the face of certain death, his bravery remained unwavering a true testament to his character.

Lt. Col. Alari was not just a soldier; he was a protector, a mentor, and a patriot. His relentless pursuit of justice and his commitment to the safety of his country will forever be remembered. He epitomized the qualities of a selfless leader always prioritizing the wellbeing of his troops and the mission above his own safety.

Beyond the battlefield, Lt. Col. Alari was a devoted son, husband, and father. His family, though bereaved, can take solace in the legacy he leaves behind a legacy of valor, service, and love for his nation.

Once again, I appreciate the work of the Nigerian Army and the incredible results they have achieved especially in the last few months but there are some statements that shouldn’t be uttered by the hierarchy of the Nigerian Military.

I think I just heard him say Turji wants to surrender but they want to take everybody out. That statement is an extrajudicial statement which has only one interpretation. It means the Nigerian Military doesn’t believe justice will take its course if he surrenders so he has to be taken out. Or am I misunderstanding him?

Troops Neutralize Bello Turji’s Second-in-Command, Key Commanders in Northwest Offensive

The Nigerian Armed Forces have dealt a significant blow to the notorious terrorist network led by Bello Turji in the Northwest region of the country. In an ongoing military operation codenamed Operation FANSAN YAMMA, troops neutralized Turji’s second-in-command, Aminu Kanawa, along with several key commanders and close allies.

According to a statement released by Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, the operation was carried out between Jan. 20 and 21, targeting terrorist hideouts across Sokoto and Zamfara states.

“Troops successfully neutralized Aminu Kanawa, the second-in-command to Bello Turji, and inflicted terminal injuries on Dosso (Bello Turji’s younger brother) and Danbokolo, one of Turji’s closest allies. Additionally, several commanders, including Abu Dan Shehu, Jabbi Dogo, Dan Kane, Basiru Yellow, Kabiru Gebe, Bello Buba, and Dan Inna Kahon-Saniya-Yafi-Bahaushe, were neutralized,” the statement read.

The operation also resulted in the elimination of over 24 fleeing terrorists from Turji’s camp in the Gebe and Isa Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Sokoto State, as well as the Gidan Rijiya area in Shinkafi LGA, Zamfara State.

In a separate encounter around the Fakai high ground, troops neutralized Suleiman, a loyalist of the late terrorist leader Halilu Sububu. Suleiman, who was leading a reinforcement team to rescue Turji’s camp, was killed during a firefight.

Major General Buba described the neutralization of Turji’s second-in-command, his close allies, and several key commanders as a significant setback to the terrorist network. He noted that the group had been responsible for numerous kidnappings and attacks across the Northwest, particularly in Zurmi, Shinkafi, Isa, and Sabon Birni LGAs of Zamfara and Sokoto states.

“Troops remain resolute in their mission to completely dismantle these terrorist groups and create an atmosphere of safety and security for all citizens,” Buba stated.
