🎨 From San Francisco to Penshurst
This exhibition-quality c.1890 oil on canvas, Admiring Her Dance by Irish artist William McGrath, was sold at auction in San Francisco over 20 years ago and is now heading to our 8th September Auction.

🎶 “You ain’t nothing but a hound dog…”

…well, this little fellow certainly is something special!

Without doubt, this has to be my best find of July. Discoveries like this are exactly why I love what I do.

…at first glance, you see a beautifully carved black Chinese hound… but look closer and you’ll spot those wonderful hints of rich green jade shimmering beneath the surface. The craftsmanship is simply mesmerising.

Dating back to the early Ming Dynasty, around the early 1400s, this remarkable piece has survived for over 600 years – extraordinary when you stop and think about it.

Needless to say, our vendor was absolutely delighted when I valued it at £5,000–£10,000!

This incredible treasure is now heading to our @HansonsUK September Fine Art Auction, where I can’t wait to see what it achieves under the hammer.

Sometimes the best discoveries really do come in small packages…
