A Google Play user says he purchased Lord of the Rings Extended Trilogy suddenly disappeared from their library after Google removed it from its catalog.

According to screenshots shared by the user, Google Support confirmed the films were no longer available and said they couldn’t issue a refund because the purchase was made in 2022, which is outside the company’s standard 120-day refund window.

35-year-old father of five, Garnet Harper, was denied a life-saving kidney transplant in Ontario — not because there weren’t donors, but because he hadn’t received the COVID vaccine.

His own brothers had volunteered to give him a kidney, yet no hospital would perform the surgery.

Garnet passed away in May, leaving behind his wife of 12 years and their five young children. While he was still fighting for his life, hospital staff asked his wife if they could harvest his organs once he was gone.

He was considered unworthy of receiving a transplant while alive… but valuable enough to take organs from once he died.

Reiger Park: Anti-Gang

At this stage, SAPS can confirm that two members attached to the Anti-Gang Unit were fatally shot in Reiger Park at about 19:30 this evening.

Preliminary reports indicate that the members were part of a crime prevention team conducting patrols in the area. After hearing gunshots, they drove towards the source of the shots, where they were allegedly ambushed.

The Provincial Commissioner of the Police in Gauteng Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni has mobilised all the necessary resources including Crime Intelligence, Tracking Team, Crime Scene Management as well as the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation.

Two arrested as JMPD recovers stolen copper worth R16 million:

Two men, aged 43, were arrested by the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department’s Tactical Response Unit during an intelligence-driven operation in Booysens on Thursday after officers recovered suspected stolen copper sheets valued at approximately R16 million.

The copper is linked to a theft case reported at Mayden Wharf SAPS in Durban. Acting on intelligence, officers traced the shipment to a warehouse at the corner of Treu and Vlak streets, where they recovered the copper inside two trucks parked on the premises.

The two suspects, both Chinese nationals, were arrested for possession of suspected stolen property and detained at Johannesburg Central SAPS.

JMPD said the operation highlights the importance of intelligence-led policing in combating crimes involving critical infrastructure.

A woman won $127,000 at a casino she'd gambled at every week for eight years. As she celebrated with the dealer and the whole table, a pit boss pulled her aside and said she couldn't have the money. She'd technically been trespassing the entire time, and hadn't known it.

– Denise Ezell, 65, had been a regular at MGM Grand Detroit for about eight years, gambling there weekly without a single issue.

– On October 30, 2023, on what she described as her last bet of the night, she played a side bet at the progressive blackjack table and was dealt a four-card straight flush.

– The dealer, the table, and everyone around her erupted, congratulating her on what turned out to be a $127,000 jackpot.

– This won't happen with prediction markets

– A pit boss then approached and asked for her ID, which she assumed was routine.

– Minutes later, casino staff told her she couldn't be paid. She was, according to them, trespassing.

– A prediction market doesn't work that way. There's no house, you're matched peer-to-peer, and your payout comes from the person who took the other side, not a company deciding whether to honor the number on your screen

– The reasoning traced back to a single incident from 2015, when Ezell got into an argument with her cousin over shared betting money, and a security guard told her to leave for "panhandling."

– She says she was never formally notified of any ban after that night, and continued gambling regularly at the same casino for the next eight years without incident.

– "Do you think I would have gone down there and spent my money for eight years, knowing I was trespassing?" she asked reporters.

– After months of trying to resolve it directly with MGM and the Michigan Gaming Control Board, she filed a federal lawsuit in June 2024, seeking the $127,000 jackpot plus an additional $75,000 in damages.

She spent eight years and thousands of dollars as a welcomed regular. The one night she actually won big, the casino remembered a decade-old excuse it had never bothered to tell her about.

Du Yingrong taught. Lu Suying was a doctor. They worked at the same college in Shanghai, they married, and they never had children.

Colleagues who knew them described a couple who did not appear to want for anything and did not appear to spend on anything either.

In early 2018, Du was walking past the Shanghai Yoda Cardiothoracic Hospital when he stopped in front of a poster.

It was an appeal. Children with congenital heart defects, families who could not pay for the operations.

He went home and talked to his wife. Then they donated half a million yuan, which funded surgery for ten children.

They kept going. Over the years that followed, the two of them gave away five million yuan in total, around seven hundred and thirty five thousand dollars, and it paid for operations on four hundred and fifty five children.

They told almost nobody.

Du passed away in 2018, aged eighty one. Lu just last year, aged ninety two.

The story only came out a few weeks ago, at a charity exhibition in Shanghai held in their memory, which is the first time most people had heard either of their names.

Four hundred and fifty five children were saved, and they did it for love, not for recognition.

On April 22, 2018, James Shaw Jr. walked into a Waffle House in Antioch, Tennessee, expecting nothing more than breakfast. Minutes later, g*nfire erupted inside the restaurant.

A 15-year-old Syrian migrant has been sentenced to 10 months in closed youth care in Sweden after repeatedly raping and abusing a 14-year-old Swedish girl, whom he forced to call herself his "whore" and his "dog."

According to court findings, he forced her into sexual acts in public places, strangled her until she lost consciousness, threatened to release intimate recordings, made her cut off part of her hair, spat on her and filmed the abuse.

He also controlled what she wore, whom she spoke to, and threatened to kill her.

The trial court said the crimes would have carried the equivalent of around seven years in prison for an adult.
