This is why I teach skills and techniques when I help clients.
Theory and insight are wonderful, but nothing changes your life and relationship quicker than actions!
Contact me if you are interested in learning what actions will most improve your relationships.
Scary and true.
Sad.
Luckily there is a very small percentage of the population who are diagnosable as narcissists.
Now, some people have narc traits; that's another animal.
Forgiveness of small things is important.
But forgiveness doesn't mean you drop it if it really bothers you. A healthy relationship has room to discuss small irritations so they can be negotiated and hopefully fixed.
You can't live your life by focusing on what is behind you, only what is coming.
And, by being in the now (as in actually driving the car!)
Had this discussion with a client recently.
And if you are STUCK in the past in your relationship, give me a call; I'd love to help you out.
We could all use a little understanding, empathy, & compassion, right?
Watch that you don't go "one up" or "better than".
If you need a refresher, go to https://t.co/tLW9toEuE0 and read the posts about self esteem on my blog.
Respect is in our heads, in our actions & in what we accept into our lives.
You can't be nasty, snarky, sarcastic in your head when interacting, no matter what is coming out of your mouth.
Plus you must limit yourself to only people who give you the same amount of respect.
Are you struggling to keep your relationship resolutions?
Pick a daily theme to remind you of things you want to do to improve your relationship this year.
I like Smiley Sunday; I smile more at my hubby. Wednesdays I share funny silly whimsical stories with him from my life.
Just because you ask for something doesn't mean your partner HAS to give it to you.
The healthy person understands they can be okay if their partner says "no".

Some part of us says "but I can't be to blame!" & starts diagnosing our partner.
Take time to look at yourself. Take responsibility for what is yours (don't take what ISN'T yours.)
Then step away from defending & work on improving yourself no matter what your partner does.
Just like a person dies if you stop feeding them, a relationship will wither away if you don't give it daily attention.
Attention doesn't have to be WORK, it can be HABIT - build healthy, helpful habits.
I love to show my couples how easy it can be.
#lovetakesattention
Couples come to me complaining of no longer being "in love".
Love is not something you have it is something you DO!
Intimacy is skillful, not existence based.
That's why I teach skills to BE loving which create true intimacy and moments for being "in love".
