Very few would now argue against banning drinking driving and it's saved countless lives.

Why is ‘being dependent’ on cars a good thing?
“Wanting” a car and “being dependent on” cars isn’t the same thing at all, as I’m sure David Frost knows if he’s honest.

In poorer countries people depend on public transport & bikes. When they get richer they want cars because they bring freedom.
Public transport will *never* be good enough for a free people to move around on.

One of the most successful pedestrian streets in the world, the Strøget in Copenhagen, was filled with cars until a 2 year 1962 pilot project. The opposition argued “no cars means no business,” but the street has been a massive retail success, the city’s busiest shopping street.
