Actually not true for mesozoic, the period when dinosaurs existed, we have an amazing fossil record, right from the earliest times when dinosaurs just emerged (earliest being Alwalkeria from the early triassic, although now thought to be chimera) to cretaceous when dinosaurs went extinct. Paleontology is a heavily neglected discipline in the country. We might have one of the most significant dinosaur fossil assemblage anywhere in the world. It is a problem of under investigation more than anything else.
