Republicans will tell you "the gays are coming for your children" and then immediately turn around and pass a law making it legal to marry 13 year old girls in Kentucky
The real war on women's sports is the lack of funding, lack of respect, and lack of overall support that has been true before and after Title IX. Even now, women athletes in the NCAA are given bare bones facilities compared to male counterparts. It's ridiculous.
At the same time, I think it's utterly absurd to suggest there weren't unfair advantages in sport until this conversation on trans inclusion. When it's a cisgender male student athlete involved, these unfair advantages are praised and sometimes take on mythological importance.
Here are some things you will not learn in that interview:
1. No trans woman in high school has ever been awarded a college athletic scholarship in the United States. Ever. It's never happened.
2. No trans woman has ever medaled at the Olympics, despite erroneous reporting.
Literally this. Children raised in ultra religious/Christian/conservative spaces are subject to all of the types of abuses they accuse queer people of perpetuating and they’ve been given free reign to do so by governments & corporations
This is taking off somehow, so here goes: teaching kids about reproductive health does not "sexualize", it de-fetishizes the human body. Here is your body, here is how it works, here is what other bodies are like and how they work. Your body is yours and you own it.
These people long for an America that always catered to those who look and act like them -- that is: white, heterosexual, traditional families. They use religion as a shield for their bigotry. They don't really care about what Christ taught; he's just a convenient vehicle.
As a parent I’m not worried that my 9 and 13 year olds are going to be “indoctrinated” with “wokeness” at school.
I’m not worried that they’re going to ‘feel guilty about their whiteness’ because they’re learning accurate history.
I’m not worried that they’re going to be “groomed” to become furries and to make their pees pees in litter boxes.
Those things aren’t real.
Wanna know what is real?
My worry that they’re going to get shot. That someone with an AR-15 is going to go into their school and shoot them.
So, while the same gun fetishizing, AR-15 lapel pin wearing, locked and loaded family Christmas card posing Republicans fear monger & manufacture crises under the guise of “parents rights”, I say this:
It is my right as a parent to send my kids to school without worrying that they will get shot.
It ain’t the drag queens, the African American history, the books with two moms or two seahorse dads which threaten our kids.
It’s the fucking guns.
On May 24, 2022 in Uvalde Texas, an 18 year old walked into Robb Elementary School and shot and killed 19 children and 2 adults.
Two days ago in Houston Texas, a man paused his dinner date to shoot and kill a fake parking attendant.
Last night in Cleveland Texas, 5 members of a family (including an 8 year old child) were shot and killed by their neighbor after they asked him to stop firing his gun on his front lawn so their baby could sleep.
So when Republican lawmakers in a state where it’s easier to get AR-15s than books about Black history say their abortion ban is about being “pro-life”…
They’re full of shit.
Religion used to get the credit for the good things that happened to me, but good keeps happening even after leaving religion.
Reply w an example of something your former religious self would have called “blessings” or “spiritual experiences” but are really just life happening.
🧵 I've worked with far more de/retransitioners than you, Buck, and support wherever their personal path goes. I don't support the few grifters exploiting this for fame & money at the expense of trans care. Here's 5 studies showing the #1 reason for detransition is social stigma:
There are a whole lot more examples of this stuff, but this is just the research I have on hand currently.
When people tell you being trans is a modern thing with no historical precedent, they're as wrong as if they insisted 1+1=3
If it was god, then I don’t have to worry. He’ll know why I left; why I ran in a hurry. So either way I choose, I’m not wasting my life, cause the voice in my head has always been right.
I believe that if Joe Biden is found to have broken the law, there should be consequences. because I'm not some fucked up member of some fucked up cult who believes that his fucked up leader is above the law
They told an entire generation of kids that they could just go to college and they would succeed, then straddled them with debt & asked why they didn’t become an electrician
My child is loved, happy, engaged and laughing with friends, considering college and career options...alive. Leelah is not. Which version of parenting is abuse?
