It turns out that the Lebanese Islamist who carried out the car-ramming attack against the Berlin Gay Pride Parade had 2 cousins who fought for ISIS.

According to Zeit, his aunt had married the infamous Islamist leader Omar Bakri Muhammad Fustuq.

Born in 1958 in Aleppo, he was involved with the Muslim Brotherhood in Syria as a young man, studied Islamic sciences at Al-Azhar in Egypt and later joined Hizb ut-Tahrir.

He operated his Hizb ut-Tahrir group out of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait in the early 1980s but decided to move to Europe when the authorities there started creating problems for him.

He arrived in the United Kingdom in the mid-1980s, was granted political asylum, and became a high-profile public figure there for controversial speeches and statements.

He played a key role in developing Hizb ut-Tahrir in the UK before founding and leading the radical Islamist group Al-Muhajiroun, which was later terror-listed.

He praised the 9/11 attacks and was associated with jihadist rhetoric.

Called the “Tottenham Ayatollah” by British media, he was described in various reports as linked to al-Qaeda messaging

In 2005, while he was visiting Lebanon, the UK Home Office excluded him from the country on the grounds that his presence was “not conducive to the public good.”

He remained in Lebanon thereafter. During his time in Lebanon, he became a recurring commentator on Qatar’s state media channel Al Jazeera, which propelled him and his Islamist ideas to greater fame in the Arab world.

In 2014, he was arrested in Lebanon on terrorism-related charges (including allegations of establishing a Lebanese affiliate of the al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front).

A Lebanese court sentenced him to six years in prison with hard labour. He was released in March 2023.

🇩🇪 Germany has counted nearly 30,000 Islamists, of whom 450 are potential Islamist terrorists. Among them was the Berlin Pride terrorist.

Around 9,100 are classified as violence-oriented. Berlin alone has roughly 2,600 Islamists, more than 900 of them prone to violence, including hundreds of radical Salafists and supporters of Hamas and Hezbollah.

The suspect in the recent Berlin Pride attack was already known to security services and under surveillance, yet still carried out the attack.

The Russian Central Bank cuts its GDP growth prognosis for 2026 and admits it could even drop to 0% due to Ukraine’s drone strikes.

The head of the bank, Elvira Nabiullina, expects faster inflation as the fuel crisis drives up prices for goods and services.

The 2026 inflation is now expected to be 6%-7% instead of 4.5%-5.5%.

GDP growth has been revised down to 0%-1% from 0.5%-1.5%.

The latest strikes on Russia’s Wildberries logistics centers haven’t been included in the numbers, with some experts saying that those strikes alone are likely to push inflation even above 7%.

🇯🇵 More than 50 people were injured in one of the prefectures on Kyushu Island in Japan after powerful 7,1 earthquakes

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi reported that the tremors caused fires, damage to roads and bridges, as well as the collapse of buildings.

NHK reported that an explosion allegedly occurred at a large Aeon shopping center in the city of Kashima on Kyushu Island. Footage shot from a channel helicopter shows the building sustained serious damage.

One of the walls partially collapsed, exposing the metal frame, and the roof was also damaged. It is unknown whether the incident is related to the earthquake.

The 17th-century Kumamoto Castle may also have been damaged, with reports of partial collapse of stone walls.
