@LilySachiLee To ensure we’re on the same page, I’m not talking about his economic or political policies. I’m focused on how humans can relate with one another
Regardless of one’s political orientation, I can’t imagine there are many people on Obama’s level when it comes to giving a speech. Particularly aspirational ones
@LilySachiLee Humans can sometimes lose sight or be unaware of such end states which is why I appreciate those that visualize a more optimal future that benefits all. Rather than cast visions that benefited all of humanity I think ppl like Hitler focused on select groups
@LilySachiLee Indeed humans can be deceived by surface level words that don’t align with actions but my intrigue with Obama’s speech last night was the appeal to a way of being that I think would benefit all of humanity.
@DrCamiloOrtiz Are you suggesting that parents not find out why their children are having undesirable emotions? How is that beneficial to the parent-child relationship. Not including cases when a child is faking emotion for personal gain
People keep using the word “IQ” as if there’s a universal definition but as far as I know it’s a number derived from a man made test. Are those who believe in “IQ” not also saying they believe the test creators *perfectly* developed their tests?
Some people use IQ to explain observation and different phenomenon while potentially overlooking that there may be several unknown reasons why certain things happened or have happened
"...It can be easy to look at practice one-dimensionally and view quantitative metrics like practice hours and rep numbers as the primary route to improved performance. Chambliss’s study however revealed that world-class swimmers see practice two-dimensionally and emphasize qualitative things like eating habits, swimming technique, and attitude as key components of their training regiments.
In his study, Chambliss classified different levels of swimming as different “worlds.” To his and my surprise, Chambliss saw that each world of swimmers shared similar quantitatively focused practice habits . For example, someone from world A and world B would practice the same amount of hours. If this is the case one may wonder what then separates two worlds from each other."
Although I think the insights here are timeless, the Olympics are currently underway so I wanted to share this. Those who have read it and provided feedback told me they had valuable takeaways, so I hope you'll leave with something too.
Many thanks to @DanFChambliss for his research study.

@TraceyHiggins92 Hi Tracey, do you have a perspective on how to help people who hear voices to consider and hopefully see that the audible voices they hear coming from within? I will admit that there's a chance the voices are coming from external sources
@DAZNBoxing I'm unable to stream on 2 devices. Disappointed and I think this is unfair. I paid to be able to stream on 2 devices and the services isn't being delivered
@C_R_Dating I think it's a complex topic. If someone is expressing thoughts with the intent to cause harm, that's one thing, but if someone is expressing thoughts for goal-oriented reasons, then it might not matter if those thoughts are perceived as hurtful, etc.
Id be curious to hear why you think it sucks. I think they can keep improving things and get it in a state where the core needs of watching, finding, and uploading videos can be done with the same or less friction as they’re done on YouTube. I don’t think the recommendation engine is make or break for adoption right now
@C_R_Dating You may share this view too but I think there’s an argument to be had that some would naturally increase their perceived attractiveness if they truly were themselves. Those told to be themselves may not be behaving in ways they feel alignment with
Just to add on to this. It may sometimes be because they're unhappy. Some people don't have the awareness or skills to recognize that trying to make someone else unhappy may be a sign of personal unhappiness. Like working out, shifting out of a state of unhappiness takes work that some ppl neglect
