The couples you're describing have likely solved something important — they've decoupled their self-worth from external achievement and found genuine sufficiency in connection, daily pleasures, and a life that doesn't require constant expansion to feel meaningful. That's not a failure of aspiration. In many philosophical traditions it's the actual goal — what Aristotle called eudaimonia and what Buddhism points toward with the concept of contentment.
The flashy life your ambitious peers chase is largely performative — it's happiness signalled to others rather than felt internally. The couples you've noticed have skipped the performance entirely.
Personally when I fall off a motorcycle I writhe around on the ground in agony for awhile as I contemplate my life choices
If you’re Marc Marquez you just get right back up and win a race like nothing happened apparently (with a little help from the rain)
I don’t think these riders and Marc especially will ever get enough credit for just how unhinged they all are. There’s some benefits to MotoGP being more of a niche sport, especially in the states, but a sad consequence of it is the people I talk to about it just not really grasping that these aren’t just some hoodlums goofing around on a clapped out crotch rocket. I grew up watching most conventional American sports, and still for my money MotoGP riders are easily some of the most impressive athletes on the planet. Legitimately no one else can do the things they do on Grand Prix motorcycles, and Marc Marquez epitomizes that.
If you don’t already watch MotoGP, I am quite literally BEGGING you to give it a try. You don’t know what you’re missing #MotoGP #SpanishGP @marcmarquez93
I didn't choose to be Indian, I was born in Mumbai.
I didn't choose to be Hindu, I was born to Hindu parents.
I didn't choose to be Brahmin, I was born to Brahmin parents.
Fuck all these identities I didn't choose. Fuck em all. And fuck your country. Fuck your religion. Fuck your caste. Fuck your tribal bullshit. And fuck you.
I choose to be a humanist, I choose to be secular, I choose to be an atheist, I choose to a rational progressive.
These identities I am proud of, for I chose these identities.
The funniest thing for me is that Hindu public, jo gaay ki susu ki pooja karte hain, jo jaat paat karte hain,
jo keechad aur tatti mein Kumbh mela manate hain,
jinke desh mein rooj 3 saal ki bacchiyoon say leekay senior citizen auratoon ka balatkaar hota hain,
jinke desh mein saans lo toh andar hawaan nahi dhuaan jaata hain,
saala unko Islam say problem hai, aur Muslim women rights ka bada. tension hain.
Matlab no wonder the country is a fucking gutter ...!!!
