Pakistan has its own space programme, yet we send it £133 million a year in aid while shutting down Britain's largest space telescope because we “can't afford” a few million.
This telescope helped inspire generations of scientists.
If we keep cutting investment in our own scientific infrastructure while other nations push ahead, we'll only fall further behind.
I hope this decision is reversed. Britain should be investing in its future, not dismantling it.
Jeremy Clarkson made £144 farming a thousand acres in his first year.
In year six he lost five thousand.
His own words to his land agent: dispiriting enough to clear a hundred and forty-four quid at the start, and here we are six years on, down five grand. The harvest had been projected at thirty-seven thousand profit. Weather and prices took it.
Now look at what that thousand acres has behind it that yours does not.
One of the best land agents in the country. A farm manager who has worked that ground since he was a teenager. A farm shop with a queue down the lane, a pub, bestselling books, more than a quarter of a million in subsidy across three years, and a television production paying for the entire thing to be filmed.
It is the most commercially advantaged thousand acres in Britain, and the farming still loses money.
That figure should end every conversation about British agriculture, and it is the one number that never makes it onto a campaign graphic. Not the glyphosate. Not the pig housing. The margin.
Because everything people object to on a farm grows straight out of it. The field pushed to the very edge. The hedge that came out because the government paid to have it removed. The shed instead of the yard. The supermarket contract signed below cost because the alternative was no contract. Nobody intensified out of malice. They were priced into it over sixty years by a policy that decided cheap groceries mattered more than a countryside, and by a retail sector that kept the difference.
Britain now grows around sixty per cent of its own food. More than a third of British farmers are past sixty-five.
The man with the Amazon cheque cannot make a thousand acres pay.
The seventy-year-old with three hundred and no film crew is doing it anyway, and being told by people who have never sold a tonne of anything that he is the problem.
A man won £1.7 MILLION playing blackjack online at 1am. The casino called the next morning to congratulate him. Then called back two days later to say there was a software glitch and they were keeping the money. They offered him £60,000 to stay quiet and sign a document promising never to talk about it. He said no.
– Andrew Green was a 54 year old from a small village in Lincolnshire England.
– Just after midnight on January 26 2018 he opened the Betfred app and started playing a blackjack game called Frankie Dettori's Magic Seven.
– He played for five and a half hours straight.
– When he finally stopped the screen showed £1,722,500.24 in winnings.
– He called Betfred. They congratulated him. Told him to call back after 9:30am to arrange collection.
– He went out that night and celebrated with his family. Spent £2,500 on dinner. He was already a millionaire in his head.
– Monday morning he called back. They said the win was so large it needed to be sent to the game provider Playtech for verification. Standard procedure they said.
– Wednesday Betfred called again. Playtech had found a software glitch. The win was void and he would not be paid.
– Their offer was £60,000 but on one condition. He had to sign a non-disclosure agreement promising never to discuss what had happened.
– He said no.
– He sued and the case went to the High Court in London.
– The judge ruled Betfred's terms and conditions were not transparent and not fair. They could not rely on them to withhold payment.
– Three years after he won the money the court ordered Betfred to pay the full £1.7 MILLION plus interest.
– Standing outside the High Court he said "The last three years have felt like hell on earth. I think Betfred have treated me abysmally."
– Betfred apologised for the delay.
– They never explained how many other players hit the same glitch and quietly accepted the £60,000.

Before #FIFA start pumping the propaganda tonight and telling us all how amazing this #WorldCup has been, let’s remember they oversaw:
- highest ticket prices ever and took a cut from resale sites.
- did nothing about Somalian referee and dozens of staff who were banned from entering the US for no legitimate reason.
- stood by as Iran were forced to train outside the US and travel in on match days.
- overturned red cards after phone calls with the president.
- Americanised the beautiful game with hydration (TV) breaks and 25 mins half time in the final
- guided Argentina through the tournament with less travel, VAR support and blatantly turning a blind due to their aggression and foul play.
But the parents who are on benefits DO NOT WORK - so they can - and I can’t stress this next bit enough - LOOK AFTER THEIR OWN KIDS?!?! Wtaf?!
If you were to do this - then surely the people who NEED 30 hrs of free child care would be families with both parents in work who are paying in more than they take out but still close to the margin and feeling the pinch.
These Labour shit-for-brains MPs are so intolerably inept.
At a dinner in the White House, Charles III told Donald Trump: “I’ve noticed your changes to the East Wing. I must say, we Brits also, in our own modest way, tried to renovate the White House back in 1814.”
I didn’t know that myself, but looked it up — in 1814, the British burned the White House.
The king also gave Trump a bell from a decommissioned British submarine named “Trump”: “Ring it if you ever need us.”
And this one:
“You recently remarked, Mr. President, that if it weren’t for the United States, European countries would be speaking German. Allow me to say that if it weren’t for us, you would be speaking French.”
But the king didn’t just joke — he also reminded Trump about support for Ukraine and the role of NATO.
Overall, Charles devoted his entire speech to subtly trolling Trump — in a very British way, so refined that it went right over the heads of MAGA supporters. They even applauded him for it!
A British king and an American jester — that says it all.
I love British humor!
Reminder of the Seve story....
Seve was a Nike player at the 1986 but rarely wore a hat when he played. They sent him shirts to wear at Augusta but no headwear.
Instead, Seve bought a Masters visor and had wore it during the opening rounds (left below).
In second place heading into Sunday, he knew he'd be on TV and felt the need to rep his sponsor. So he cut the Nike logo from two of his shirts and glued them over the Masters logo (right).
As a chocaholic nothing would bring me more pleasure than for Cadburys to collapse.
They betrayed everyone when they closed down their factory in Birmingham and sold to a filthy American conglomerate.
A glass an a half in every dairy milk ended up three glugs of palm oil and a cheap labour plant in Poland.
Boycott the cunts
The big problem with solar power has always been the same. The sun goes down and the power stops. Batteries help but they are expensive and degrade over time.
This plant solved that completely differently. Instead of storing electricity it stores heat.
12,000 mirrors focus sunlight onto a tower that heats molten salt to 565 degrees. That salt holds heat for hours. After the sun sets the stored heat continues boiling water, spinning turbines and generating electricity just like a normal power plant.
No batteries. No fuel. Just salt that stays hot long after dark.
It has been running since 2018. Powers over 300,000 homes annually. Cuts 350,000 tons of CO2 a year.
The energy storage problem that supposedly makes solar unreliable was solved in a desert in northwest China using salt. And most people have never heard of it.
They can politely F the actual F off.
They do not kill colds.
They do not kill transmission.
They kill communication.
They kill human connection.
They kill child speech development.
They make people look mentally ill.
What have I missed off that list...?
Time and again Keir Starmer told us if we made him PM he’d kickstart growth and make UK fastest growing economy in G7 during the second half of the decade.
He (and Reeves) have done the opposite.
The last Tory Budget was March 2024 when the OBR forecast the economy would be 9% bigger by start of 2029. Labour dismissed this as akin to stagnation. Fair enough. It was hardly stellar growth.
The latest OBR forecast downgrades that growth to 7% by Q1 2029.
Far from kickstarting the economy he’s knocked the stuffing out of it.
