@Airtel_Presence@airtelindia I need urgent help with my mother's Airtel number.
She has used this number continuously for 12+ years. It is linked to her Aadhaar, her PAN, her SBI and ICICI bank accounts, and her LIC policy. Our home Airtel broadband is registered on it too. Most importantly, my father, her husband, serves in the Indian Army and has his official army documents linked to this same number, along with his LIC policy. Our whole family's essential services depend on it.
The SIM is now physically damaged and shows only "Emergency calls only". When we went to the Airtel store for a replacement, we found out the number was registered years ago under someone else's name, a person we have never met. The store says only that person can get the replacement, but we have no way to find or contact him.
When this SIM was sold 12+ years ago, KYC checks were much weaker. This name could even be a fake identity, and other numbers might be registered under it too, with their users just as unaware as we were. That's a KYC problem on Airtel's side, and our family shouldn't be punished for it.
On top of that, the store staff weren't polite and didn't cooperate. Now they tell us that even if everything goes right, it could take 6 months. Six months, in 2026, for a SIM replacement when the actual users have this much proof?
Our proof that our family are the real long-term users:
• My father's official Indian Army documents linked to this number
• My mother's Aadhaar and PAN linked to this number
• Bank records with SBI and ICICI showing this number
• LIC policies for both my mother and my father
• Our home Airtel broadband registered on this number
• Years of recharge history
After all this, what more do Airtel and its store need? Right now she can't receive bank OTPs or use UPI. We're happy to complete a fresh KYC in her name with all original documents.
Please escalate this urgently and help us get a replacement SIM with the same number. I'll share the number and documents in DM.

@india_plus_ These companies should improve their current network type before going ahead. They can’t even provide good network services, yet they’re planning to seek out 6G
Google actually launched a satellite with four TPU chips on it to test running AI in orbit. Data centers keep getting pushback on land so they're just leaving the planet now. Kind of genius, kind of a sci-fi villain move.
Elon says Digital Optimus can now get about halfway through the Diablo campaign just by looking at the screen. Counter-Strike is apparently going well too and League is in training. If it can survive solo queue in League I'll be impressed.
Apple is doing a whole smart home event on Oct 13 in New York. If Siri still can't turn off the lights on the first try, I'm not buying anything from it
Microsoft put an Nvidia RTX Spark chip in the Surface Laptop Ultra and lowkey this is the first Windows laptop in a while I actually want to try. My wallet is already nervous though
Amazon is phasing out Fire tablets and replacing them with pricier Alexa+ tablets. The whole point of a Fire tablet was being the cheap one you hand to a kid or leave in the kitchen. Who is the new lineup actually for?
