Every time I read through scripture I learn new insights and raise new questions. Here’s one I never pondered until today:
Did Uriah know?
Do you think one of the servants told him that night when he was supposed to go home? #2Sam11
Bathsheba is a victim of rape.
Even if she didn’t scream or struggle.
Even if she knew he was watching.
Even if she had political aspirations.
The imbalance of power in their relationship removes the possibility of un-coerced consent. #2Sam11
My 1st insight of the day is that the text never says Bathsheba was on the roof. Only David. She may well have been inside, only visible from a window or in a courtyard shielded from everywhere but above. #2Sam11
Today we read about David and Bathsheba #2Sam11, certainly one of the more eyebrow-raising stories in the Bible.
Y’all read it today with fresh eyes and check back here for comments throughout the day.

DAVID

Sin always involves a progression of choices. Stop the progression and avoid the sin. #ontrackdevos #2Sam11
When we conceal sin rather than confess it, we will most likely commit more sin. #2Sam11 #DavidAndUs
@JaMaPrice I wonder if it was hard for David to have Uriah killed, knowing that it would stay with him forever #2Sam11
Nothing good happens when we are not in the places we should be, dismissing the tasks we should be about. #2Sam11
We grow spiritually when we come to realize that our greatest battles are internal not external. #KingDavidlesson #2Sam11
King David forgot to read his devotions in 2 Timothy 2:22 that evening. #2Sam11 Run, don’t reason. @calvarychatt http://t.co/3TYbHn0Wxb
