As the names of Americans murdered on September 11th are read aloud at Ground Zero, AOC and Mamdani are laughing and smiling together.
There is a time and a place for politics. This isn’t it.
Ground Zero is sacred ground.
Those names belong to fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, firefighters, cops, and innocent Americans who went to work one morning and never came home.
For a few hours, on one day, have some damn respect.
September 11th is not a photo op.
It is not a networking event.
It is a funeral America has attended for 25 years.

De NOS sprak over de mensen die op 11 september om het leven kwamen alsof zij simpelweg „stierven” of „verloren gingen”.
Maar zij stierven niet zomaar. Laten we daarom zeggen wat gezegd behoort te worden: zij werden vermoord door radicale islamitische terroristen.
En in de berichtgeving over 9/11 wordt maar al te gemakkelijk nagelaten te benoemen wie de aanslagen pleegde. Geen verwijzing naar Al-Qaeda. Geen verwijzing naar radicaal-islamitisch terrorisme. Alleen een steriele, van haar context ontdane weergave van de geschiedenis
Geen context. Geen daders. Alleen geschiedenis die van haar scherpste feiten wordt ontdaan.
De duizenden mensen die op 9/11 werden vermoord, verdienen dat de waarheid zonder omwegen wordt uitgesproken — en dat zij worden herdacht met de ernst, waardigheid en het respect die hun toekomen.
