🏆🇦🇷 Un día como hoy de 1955, Juan Manuel #Fangio se consagró tricampeón del mundo de #F1, convirtiéndose en el primer piloto de la historia en alcanzar tres títulos mundiales.
La consagración llegó en el #BritishGP, disputado en el circuito de #Aintree. Al volante del #Mercedes W196, Fangio finalizó segundo, por detrás de su compañero de equipo Stirling Moss, quien obtuvo la primera victoria de su carrera en la Fórmula 1. Ese resultado fue suficiente para que el argentino asegurara matemáticamente el campeonato cuando aún restaban tres fechas para el final de la temporada.
El dominio de Fangio en 1955 fue contundente. En las seis competencias puntuables que disputó ese año consiguió cuatro victorias (#ArgentinianGP, #BelgianGP, #DutchGP e #ItalianGP), además del segundo puesto en Gran Bretaña. Solo no pudo participar en las 500 Millas de Indianápolis, que por entonces formaban parte del Campeonato Mundial, y abandonó en #MonacoGP por un problema mecánico cuando luchaba por la victoria.
La temporada también estuvo marcada por uno de los episodios más trágicos de la historia del automovilismo. Durante las 24 Horas de #LeMans, el accidente del Mercedes de Pierre Levegh provocó la muerte de más de 80 espectadores. Como consecuencia, Mercedes-Benz decidió retirarse de varias competencias y, al finalizar el año, abandonó oficialmente la competición internacional, pese a haber conquistado los campeonatos de Pilotos y Constructores.
Con este tercer título consecutivo, Fangio superó los dos campeonatos obtenidos por Alberto Ascari y se convirtió en el piloto más exitoso de la joven historia de la Fórmula 1. Aún le quedaban dos coronas más, en 1956 y 1957, para establecer una marca de cinco campeonatos mundiales que permanecería imbatida durante 46 años.
Aquel 16 de julio de 1955 fue otro capítulo inolvidable en la leyenda del "Chueco" de #Balcarce, que seguía escribiendo una historia destinada a convertirlo en uno de los más grandes pilotos de todos los tiempos.
