Who wants more good stuff from the #Ontario #AgSystem Implementation guide? "The GGH comprises only 3.5% of Ontario’s land area, but contains 42% of the province’s best (Canada Land Inventory Class 1) farmland (OMAFRA, 2015). High quality farmland is the foundation of the sector"

In March of this year, @ONFarmlandTrust called for the #Ontario #AgSystem to be added to the #Greenbelt. Time is running out! Farmland identified across large areas of the #AgSystem is being considered for future urban growth areas. Here's the #OFT recommendation in full...

100% of Markham’s whitebelt is on chopping block. 3700 acres of prime agricultural area that is integral to wider farm business network in #Greenbelt + #RougeNationalUrbanPark + #DuffinsRougeAgPreserve. OMAFRA has policy for #agsystem in #GGH and no one is paying attention to it!

I was warned about #Vaughan’s Chief Planner & they were right. Basically just said that if all our whitebelt land doesn’t come in this round it will eventually. So just accept it and plan #Sprawl
