Zambians made detailed proposals for Women's parley representation to the Mvunga Commission (1990 -1991), Mwanakatwe Commission (1993 -1995), Mungomba Commission (2003 - 2005), but successive Govts ignored. #Bill7 grants Zambians their wishes and it still is a problem to some. ๐

@YamaSwami You obviously missed the discussions around the challenges women face to get adopted, ranging from sextortion to financial incapacity. The "why not adopt more women" question is now stale. Even the most ardent critics of #Bill7 acknowledge that this clause is long overdue.
@chachachafire Ba Chanda, there is no national poll or referendum outside parliament that exists to support your assertion. For now, going by what we all know about MPs (that they're the people's representatives), it should be said that majority Zambians wanted #Bill7, b'coz it was passed.
Chris can depart the Parley stage with accolades. To his credit, he brought 2 huge Pvt Members Motions, which Parley unanimously approved - review ownership of land by foreigners, and GRZ owning the Mufumbwe Gold Mine. He also forced the deletion of clause 3,5 &9 from #Bill7.
At first glance, this might be nothing to many, especially that this duo stands no chance of defeating HH. But a closer look will show you how politically strategic Sean is. Instead of whining about #Bill7, he's seen an opportunity in the Proprtional Representation System. Watch.

That #Bill7 was enacted into law and is part of the Constitutional Amendment Act No. 13 of 2025. I can swear that insulting each other won't change its status quo.

MPs who voted "YES" knew their task. MPs like Sunday Chanda, have stated that their voters sent them to vote "Yes".

Zambia is a democracy. Our democracy, through the Kanstitution, has given express permission to every interested entity to freely expressing their opinions on #Bill7.
The Human Rights Commission has backed Constitution Amendment Bill 7, calling it progressive. They say the proposed hybrid electoral system combining first past the post and proportional representation could strengthen inclusive, rights-based democracy if fairly implemented.
Rigidity has been the major cause of disputes in this #Bill7 debate. The influential groups from both sides of the debate have been so rigid, non wants to bend a little to accomodate the views of the other side. LAZ went to the Committee with a rigid mindset.
