#SDBurman -outstanding composer
#MajroohSultanpuri-outstanding poet-lyricist.
When the two got together, they created magic! ✨
From #DevAnand films like PayingGuest,KalaPaani and Jewel Thief ,to #BimalRoy's Sujata,to @SrBachchan -Jaya starrer Abhimaan, this team delivered hit albums in a row. Later, #RDBurman continued the association and delivered many gorgeous melodies/film albums with Majrooh saheb.
This is a song from #Talaash(1969).Every song from this film is memorable. I love this particular song with all my heart,as Burmanda had sung it in his own voice in Bengali for his beloved wife Meena, who wrote the Bengali lyrics.(Suno go Dokhino Hawa,Prem karechhe ami-Listen,O Southern breeze,I have fallen in love ❤️).The Bengali version was released during Pujo(Durga Puja festival)in 1970.
Majrooh saheb wrote Hindi lyrics on the same tune for OPRalhan's film(picturized on SharmilaTagore and Rajendra Kumar),which will never lose their freshness. #Lata di ne gaane men chaar chand laga diye 🌙🌙🌙🌙
The two masters were born today (1 October) 🙏🙏🙏
(Please pardon my Bengali. Shabdon par nahi, bhaavon par gaur farmayen. This recording is a few years old, taken at my old residence in Delhi).

117th birth anniversary of #BimalRoy whose cinema simply placed ordinary lives before us with such truth and dignity that injustice became impossible to ignore.
दया धरम सब-कुछ बिकता है, लोग लगाएँ बोली
मुश्किल है हम जैसों की, है खाली जिनकी झोली
गजब तोरी दुनिया, हो मोरे रामा...
This song from #DoBighaZamin carries that bewilderment perfectly: a simple man looking at an unfair world and asking how it came to be this way.
Remembering arguably, our greatest master filmmaker, Bimal Roy, whose humane vision gave Indian cinema some of its most enduring truths.
