Florida’s August permit leaders are in — and the numbers tell a story. Top home builders, regional standouts, statewide heavyweights. Construction pros: this is your market leaders snapshot: https://t.co/pz9ig2jvsG
#BuildingPermits #FloridaContractors #homebuilders #hbweekly
#BuildingPermits (Aug final): Permits were revised up to 1.403m from the 1.394m preliminary reading. The monthly decline was trimmed to -2.1% from -2.7%, so the pipeline is still contracting, but less than first reported.
#CurrentAccountBalance (Q2): The deficit widened to $246.0bn from a revised $212.6bn in Q1, though it came in narrower than the $257.4bn expected.
#InitialJoblessClaims (week to Sep 19): Claims came in at 197k, below the 200k forecast and barely changed from the revised 198k the prior week. Layoffs remain very low.
#InitialClaims 4-Week Average: The average eased to 202.25k from a revised 204.00k, confirming a stable, low trend.
#ContinuingClaims (week to Sep 12): Continuing claims fell to 1.719m, below the 1.740m expected and close to the revised 1.717m. Laid-off workers are still finding jobs without difficulty.
#NewHomeSales (Aug): Sales jumped to 684k annualised, well above the 616k forecast. July was revised sharply higher to 643k from 607k.
New Home Sales MoM (Aug): Sales rose 6.4% on the month against the 1.3% expected, following a July decline revised to -4.3% from -10.5%.
#KansasCityFedManufacturing (Sep): The index rose to 14, above the 9 forecast and the prior 10, showing firmer regional factory activity.
Implications for #USA #Rates and the #Dollar
Today's data point to an economy that is holding up better than expected. Layoffs remain low, housing demand surprised strongly to the upside with upward revisions, and regional manufacturing is accelerating. That weakens the case for near-term Fed easing, and markets are likely to trim rate-cut expectations and push Treasury yields higher, particularly at the front end. Stronger growth and higher yields should support the dollar in the short term. The persistent current account deficit remains a longer-term structural drag on the currency, but the smaller-than-expected shortfall removes some immediate pressure.
