A carer and her pal "savagely" attacked a woman in a Northumberland pub with "real determination to cause as much harm as possible". Christie Gore spotted the victim sitting in The Clayton Arms, in Bedlington, and struck her to the side of the face before pulling her off her seat by her hair. A court heard that the 39-year-old was then joined by her friend Emma Taggart and the pair rained down punches on the shocked woman and pulled her to the floor. The victim was then kicked numerous times as she lay on the ground, although it was unclear who delivered the blows, prosecutors said. During what a judge described as a "savage" and "vicious" attack, the woman curled up into a ball as she was repeatedly struck until Gore and Taggart were eventually pulled away. The victim later attended hospital, suffering from concussion, a buzzing noise in her ears and extensive bruising over her face and body. Gore, of Dene View West, and Taggart, 39, of Forster Avenue, both in Bedlington, were arrested and pleaded guilty to one count each of assault occasioning actual bodily harm during a hearing at Newcastle Magistrates' Court. Giving them each a 24-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, District Judge Paul Currer said: "For reasons known to yourself, you decided to launch a vicious attack upon [the victim], striking a blow to the side of her face as she was looking away. https://t.co/HWJ0JC3LfH
