Share this far and wide, I'm exposing @SunLifeCA and I will make them wish they had just paid out instead of taking a big public relations crisis. I fully qualify for the Canadian dental Plan and they automatically denied me to save money, This should be illegal. Why the monopoly? Why the manipulation?
This is my situation as well, I was denied any coverage of a crown despite multiple fractures, a retreatment root canal and the dentist/endodontist saying I would lose the molar if this work did not happen. @SunLifeCA denied me saying I did not meet the criteria (which I do being on #ODSP). They give you just 60 days to appeal their seemingly automatic and ridiculous denials.
ALSO: Reminder to renew your Canadian Dental Care Plan by June 1st (it needs to be renewed every single year even if you've had income below $90,000 for decades... @liberal_party, @MarkJCarney this is more corporate welfare, and monopoly style approach to preventative care for the most vulnerable. We save money by getting these issues early, instead of emergency surgeries to remove teeth.

Mr. Tremblay presented for an emergency examination on March 10, 2026, reporting acute pain in the upper right quadrant radiating to the upper left jaw, sinus, and cheek area.
Clinical assessment revealed significant sensitivity to percussion on Tooth #26.
The tooth had a previous Mesio-Occlusal (MO) restoration and a history of root canal therapy approximately six years ago. While periodontal probing depths remained within normal limits (across all sites), the patient's symptomatic response suggested a failing
endodontic treatment, possibly due to a missed canal or reinfection.
Based on these findings, the patient was referred to an endodontist for consultation. The endodontist confirmed the need for endodontic retreatment, which was successfully completed. Following the retreatment, a new core buildup (filling) was placed as
recommended.
Justification for Full Coverage Crown
A full coverage crown was determined to be the only viable, long-term restorative option for
the following reasons:
- Structural Integrity: This is the second endodontic intervention on this tooth. Repeated treatments and existing large restorations have significantly compromised the natural tooth structure. A larger filling would jeopardize the remaining strength of
the tooth.
- Fracture Prevention: Tooth #26 has a history of a cusp fracture (repaired in 2024), indicating high structural stress. While the endodontist noted no active cracks
under magnification, a crown is necessary to provide the "ferrule effect" and prevent future vertical fractures.
- Superior Seal: To prevent further micro-leakage and recurrent infection-which likely caused the initial failure-a crown provides a superior marginal seal
compared to a standard composite restoration.""
