I was never a “dog person” until exactly one year ago I found you alone around our base outdoor kitchen, wandering there god knows from where, and I think it took you about 5 seconds to steal my heart. I had absolutely no plans to get a dog, especially not in Ukraine when my own life is already one big logistical mess and I am constantly going somewhere, but somehow one year later I have a small Jack Russell with one working braincell who has travelled thousands of kilometres with me, lived at different bases, spent endless hours in cars, slept in all kinds of random places and thinks that obviously wherever I am going, she is going too. You are probably the funniest and sweetest dog I have ever met, while also being stubborn as hell, jealous, dramatic and sometimes making me question if that one braincell is actually working. You have zero understanding of personal space, my bed became your bed, every food is potentially your food and if I dare to leave without you, poor Samba gets to deal with the consequences until I come back. I still find it funny that I became THIS person because before you I really did not understand dog people. Now I take you everywhere I possibly can, miss you when you are not with me, talk to you like you understand everything and somehow many of my plans also include the question what the hell I am doing with Tonia. I still have no idea where you came from that day, how long you had been alone or what happened before I found you and probably I never will. I just know that you were there alone, I took you with me and apparently from that moment I had a dog. At the time I obviously thought I was the one saving you, but after this year I am really not sure anymore who saved who. There have been enough really shit days when you have managed to make me laugh simply by being your ridiculous little self. Happy one year, my little one-braincell terrorist ❤️
